Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable stable copying to be made from the 1st sheet at the time of using a zinc oxide photoreceptor after standing for a long time by performing charging and destaticizing repeatedly several tens times prior to copying. CONSTITUTION:A zinc oxide photoreceptor 1 is rotated until a fixing heater 8 attains a fixed temp., and during this time, a charging-transferring charger 3, a destaticizing lamp 4 and a destaticizing charger 6 are acted upon a photoreceptor 1, whilist an exposure device 5 and the other devices are kept paused. This results in that the photoreceptor 1 experiences the processes of charging and destaticizing 30 times during the heating time of the heater 8. Here, at the time when the zinc oxide photoreceptor 1 is used in an unsaturated surface potential region, the rising characteristics of the surface potential after the long-time exposure stabilize in 30 times as shown by the figure. This indicates that with this device the photoreceptor is at the copiable potential from the 1st sheet and that the stable copying may be carried out.
