Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a shell and/or cap for covering a resin denture, having similar color and transparency to the natural tooth, and extremely high impact strength, and made of a crystallized glass containing oxides of Si, P, Al, Li, Ti, Ce, etc. at specific ratios.
CONSTITUTION: Crystallized glass composed of 73W84wt% of SiO2, 1W6wt% of P2O5, 2W10wt% of Al2O3, 9W15wt% of Li2O, 0.2W5wt% of TiO2, 0.5W2wt% of CeO2, 0W3wt% of CaO, 0W3wt% of BaO, 0W3wt% of ZnO, and 0W3wt% of Nb2O5. The glass is molten at 1,400°C, formed to the form of the shell or the cap, heat-treated in an oven raising the temperature at a rate of 30W200°C/hr, and taken out of the oven at 550W850°C to obtain the objective shell or cap. The denture can be easily manufactured in large quantities compared with the conventional ceramic denture. It is resistant to chipping off, and has high adhesivity to the resin for the denture base.
