Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the quantity of coating medium retained by a liquid-retaining belt uniform so as to perform even painting, by installing a backing plate made of electrically nonconductive material between the opposite electrode and the liquid- retaining belt, and by immersing the opposite electrode and the backing plate of the belt into an electrodepositing tank.
CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus performing continuously the repairing coating of the cut edge portion of crown caps 7 by an alternating current electrodepositing painting, a liquid-retaining belt 2 attached on its surface with energizing electrodes 3 is circulated through a coating medium tank 5, and an electrodepositing tank 9, which is provided with an opposite electrode 4 and a belt-backing plate 11 made of electrically nonconductive material and allowed to contact with the inside surface of the liquid-retaining belt 2. Hereby coating medium for electrodeposition is replenished to the liquid-retaining belt 2, and electrodeposited at the cut edge portion of the crown caps 7 by conveying the crown caps 7 by means of the liquid-retaining belt 2 to the electrodepositing tank 9 while the cut edge portion being pushed against the energizing electrode 3 by a pressing plate 16 in order to allow the edge portion to contact with the energizing electrode 3, then the crown caps 7 are attracted by a magnet 20 to the belt 15, and are conveyed to a baking instrument.
