Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare pelletized coal having high calorific value, without using the ash treating process, by mixing finely pulverized coal with water to obtain an aqueous slurry of coal, carrying out the under-water pelletization of the coal while adding fuel oil and a pelletizing agent to the slurry, and separating the ash contained in the coal in high rate of deashing.
CONSTITUTION: Coal, water, and an alkaline agent are fed to a wet mill 1 through the coal inlet 2, the water inlet 3 and the alkaline agent inlet 4, respectively, and the coal is finely pulverized to obtain an aqueous slurry of coal. The slurry is sent to the mixing tank 7, and mixed with fuel oil and a pelletizing agent fed through the fuel oil inlet 8 and the pelletizing agent inlet 10, respectively. The mixture is transferred to the under-water pelletizing and deashing tank 11, and revolved at high speed to obtain the pelletized coal and to separate the ash. The pellet is separated from the ash in the first solid-liquid separator 15, and taken out of the system through the extracting line 18. The ash-containing waste water is sent to the second solid-liquid separator 17 to separate the ash as a cake, which is discharged through the pipe 20. The water extracted through the pipe 21 is circulated to the wet mill 1 through the circulation line 22.
