Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a thermally formed article improved in its surface brightness and transparency, by thermally forming a unidirectional synthetic resin sheet with a contact type face plate thermally forming machine, involving the face plate whose surface is finished at a specified smoothness.
CONSTITUTION: The unidirectional thermoplastic synthetic resin sheet is formed with the contact type face plate thermally forming machine involving the face plate whose surface roughness is finished at a smoothness of 3S or less (JIS B-0601), to produce a vessel or the like. The unidirectional sheet to be used is preferably held in the state that the reduction ratio of its sheet width after orientated to that before orientated is controlled at 10% or less, so as to inhibit strain in and unevenness in thickness of a product. The unidirectional sheet is obtained, for instance, by rotating thermoplastic synthetic resin sheets along opposit directions at a temperature lower than their melting points or their fluidization-initiating points, and passing them through a gap between a couple of rolling rolls set in a distance narrower than the thickness of the sheet.
