Abstract

PURPOSE:To economically form a metal vapor deposited pattern rich in gloss by a method wherein a metal vapor deposited layer is formed on a surface of a substrate and a picture pattern layer is formed thereon by a chem. resistant resin and, thereafter, the resultant layers are subjected to chem. treatment. CONSTITUTION:On a surface of a substrate 1 made of glass, plastics or the like, a vapor deposited layer 2 of a metal such as Al or the like is formed. Subsequently, by a transparent or a translucent synthetic resin with chem. resistance against acids or alkalis, a picture pattern layer 3 is formed by a printing process, a hand drawing method or the like. Next, washing treatment is carried out by using an acidic or an alkaline agent to dissolve and remove only a metal vapor deposited layer 2' on which the picture pattern layer 3 due to the synthetic resin is not present. Thereby, a molded object on which a picture pattern formed by vapor deposited patterns M1, M2 formed by coating the metal vapor deposited layer 2 with the picture pattern layer 3 due to the transparnt or the translucent synthetic resin is obtained. By this method, a using amount of a metal is made less and a cost is reduced.
