Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a surface-coated molded material excellent in wear resistance without deteriorating the color and color tone of a substrate, by forming a transparent film of a specific thickness by means of dry plating on the surface of the molded material by using an MgO-containing ceramics- forming material. CONSTITUTION:Dry plating treatment is applied to the surface of the molded material by using an MgO-containing ceramics-forming material, by which a transparent film of 0.5-8mum thickness is formed. Further, an undercoat layer consisting of metal, metal oxide, or plastic and/or a topcoat consisting of plastic is formed by lamination on the above hard transparent film, if necessary. By this method, superior wear resistance can be provided by applying a hard trans parent film to the solid surface and also the surface-coated molded material causing no deterioration in the color and color tone of the substrate and excel lent in color resistance can be obtained.
