Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as a raw material of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, etc., from a low-cost, easily available and easily preparable raw material, economically, in an industrial scale, by reacting diazoacetonitriles with hydrogen sulfide in a solvent in the presence of an inorganic base.
CONSTITUTION: 5-Amino-1,2,3-thiadiazole compound of formula II (R is H, lower alkyl or aryl) is prepared by reacting (A) 1mol of a diazoacetonitrile compound of formulaIwith (B) hydrogen sulfide in the presence of (C) ≥0.05g-equivalent, pref. 0.1W0.5g-equivalent of an inorganic base[e.g. NaOH, KOH, Ca(OH)2], in a solvent (e.g. n-hexane, n-heptane, chloroform, methylene chloride, etc.) at ≤15°C, pref. -5W +10°C under normal pressure.
