NEW MATERIAL:An α-aryl-α-(2-pyridyl)acetaldoxime of formulaI(R is H or 1W4C alkyl).
EXAMPLE: α-Phenyl-(2-pyridyl)acetaldoxime.
USE: A raw material of an α-aryl-α-(2-pyridyl)acetonitrile of formula II (a raw material of disopyramide useful as a remedy for arrhythmia).
PROCESS: The compound of formulaIis prepared by reacting a novel α-aryl-α- (2-pyridyl)-acetaldehyde of formula III with hydroxylamine in a solvent such as benzene, toluene, etc. at 10W150°C. The reaction is pref. carried out by supplying hydroxylamine in the form of sulfate or hydrochloride to the reaction system, and isolating hydroxylamine with a base such as NaOH, etc. added to the reaction system.
