Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Haloacetanilide derivatives of formula I (X is halogen; Y is H, halogen; R is lower alkyl, lower haloalkyl, lower alkoxy).
EXAMPLE: Methyl α-[N-(2,2-dichloro-3-oxobutyryl)2,6-xylidino]propionate.
USE: Fungicide for agricultural and horticultural purposes: they show high controlling effect against various kinds of plant blights, especially being effective against blights caused by Phycomycetes such as potato late blight. They show increased activity even when diluted and can be expected to control pests sufficiently with a small dose.
PREPARATION: A compound of formula II is halogenated to give the compound of formula I.
