Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform plating operation always stably without damaging plating apparatus and a plated steel strip by subjecing the plated-steel plate coming out of a metal hot dipping bath to a gas wiping treatment then passing the same through magnetic means for steady rest of the steel plate provided with specific adjusters. CONSTITUTION:A plated steel strip 3 which is subjected to a gas wiping treatment after it emerges from a metal hot dipping bath is passed between magnetic means for steady rest of the steel strip provided oppositely to both edge parts 3A thereof, whereby tension is given in the width direction of the steel strip and its oscillation is stopped. Here, adjusters 10 adjusting the gap G between the permanent magnets 9 used for the magnetic means and the parts 3A automatically are provided, and retreating mechanisms 18 for retreating the permanent magnets 9 from the parts 3A and stopping the same and stopper mechanisms 19 provided with auxiliary permanent magnets 5 for detaining the magnets 9 in the edge parts 3A against the mechanisms 18 are provided to the magnetic means for steady rest. The smooth continuation of the plating work is made possible by these mechanisms despite trouble in the adjusters 10.
