【発明の詳細な説明】
本発明は、新規な高強度、高硬度かつ高密度の炭Ml
化−F−p ノーホウ化金属系セラミックス材料に関す
るものである。

本発明者らは、このような欠点を改良する目的で、炭窒
化チタン粉末に対し1種々のセラミックス粉末を添加し
、焼結実験を重ねた結果、炭窒化チタン粉末に対しMB
Q型又はRLIB6型ホウ化全ホウ化金属粉末上を添加
し、焼結することにより、高強度、高硬度かつち密な焼
結体を得ることができることを見出し、この知見に基づ

本発明において、炭窒化チタンTI (Ca Nβ)と
は窒化チタンに炭素が固溶したものてあり、炭素と窒素
の割合(α:β)は10:90から90 : 10まで
の範囲のものである。炭窒化チタン粉末は平均粒径2μ
以下の粉末が好ましい。また本発明に用いるホウ化金属
は、平均粒径2μ以下、できうればし5〜95重量%添
加すれば、高強度な焼結体が得られるが、20〜70重
量%の範囲で特に高強度。
本発明において、炭窒化チタンTI (Ca Nβ)と
は窒化チタンに炭素が固溶したものてあり、炭素と窒素
の割合(α:β)は10:90から90 : 10まで
の範囲のものである。炭窒化チタン粉末は平均粒径2μ

またホウ化金属にホウ素粉末を1〜10重量%本発明の
セラミックス材料は、原料混合粉末を例えば黒鉛型のよ
うな型に充てんし、真空中又は窒素、アルゴン、水素、
炭酸ガスのような中性もしくは還元性雰囲気において、
ダイ圧力50〜300h/、、gの圧力下に1500°
〜2000℃の温度、とりわけ1700〜1800℃で
10分から200分間加熱焼結することにより、得るこ
とができる。また通常知られた普通焼結法、 H,I、
P、法等を使用して焼結することもできる。
セラミックス材料は、原料混合粉末を例えば黒鉛型のよ
うな型に充てんし、真空中又は窒素、アルゴン、水素、
炭酸ガスのような中性もしくは還元性雰囲気において、
ダイ圧力50〜300h/、、gの圧力下に1500°
〜2000℃の温度、とりわけ1700〜1800℃で
10分から200分間加熱焼結することにより、得るこ
とができる。また通常知られた普通焼結法、 H,I、
P、法等を使用して焼結することもできる。
本発明の材料は、高強度、高硬度、高密度及び良好な組
織を有い−また耐酸化性にも優れているので、切削工具
材、耐摩耗性機械部品材料あるいは耐熱利料として極め
て好適であり、広い分野に利用することができる。又、
この材料中のホウ化■ 金属は1周期率表のにb族化合物を含む環境中で(W

炭素と窒素の比率50 : 50の炭窒化チタン(以下
Ti (C5ON60)のように表示する)粉末7o重
量%とニホウ化チタン粉末30重量%とを十分に混合し
、この混合粉末を黒鉛型に充てんする。この黒鉛型をダ
イ圧力200 Kg%!で加圧しながら、真空中で17
00℃に50分間加熱焼成した。このようにして得られ
た焼結体は抗折力11o Kg/*=” + ビッカー
ヌ硬度2600に;t/mm”を有していた。この焼結
体の組織を走査型電子顕微鏡で観察すると9組織内には
空孔は見られなかった。またこの焼結体を空気中で加熱
したが、 1000℃までは酸化されず+’ 120
0℃で、わずかに酸化膜で表面がおおわれた。

属粉末あるいは高温時に六方晶系になるW2B5. M
O2B5等M2B5型ホウ化金属粉末の中の1種以上を

なる炭窒化チタン−ホウ化金属系セラミックス材料。
