DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Field of Industrial Application The present invention provides a method for connecting a head and a flexible pattern cable by making it possible to visually check the state of the joint between the head and the flexible pattern cable by a simple method of providing an opening in a part of the pressure welding fitting. It is possible to simplify the work and reduce costs, and as a result, it can be used for everything from small printers mounted on calculators and the like to large printers that require high print quality.

Conventional configurations and their problems In recent years, with the development of office automation, low noise and
The demand for recording devices using thermal heads with high print quality is expanding, and recently there has been a method to obtain a high density of dots that satisfies high print quality by joining the head and flexible pattern cable. There is a tendency that pressure welding is often used. However, this method has problems in that the pressure welding work itself is difficult and the reliability is low because the pressure bonding state cannot be confirmed.

The configuration of the press-contact joint of a conventional thermal recording head will be described below with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of a conventional thermal recording head and a flexible pattern cable connected by pressure contact. 1 is a thermal head, 1a is a conductive contact part of the head 1, and the contact resistance is reduced. It is plated with gold to make it smaller. Reference numeral 2 designates a fixing base for the head 1 having a tapped hole 2a. 3 is a flexible pattern cable that serves as a path for the applied voltage supplied from the drive circuit, and! l), 3au 4-way contact part. 4 are conductive contact parts 1a and 3a
This is pressure contact rubber that acts as a cushion to apply uniform contact pressure after alignment. Reference numeral 6 denotes a press fitting for fixing the flexible pattern cable 3 by passing a screw 6 through the hole 5a from above the press rubber 4 and tightening the screw into the hole 2a of the fixing base 2.

A thermal recording head comprising the above-mentioned components is assembled in the following steps. First, the head 1 is fixed to the fixing base 2 by adhesive or the like. Next, connect the flexible pattern cable 3 to its conductive contact portion 3a and the conductive contact portion 1.
After aligning with a, place the pressure contact rubber 4 on top,
From the top, it is attached to the fixing base 2 using a pressure fitting 6 and a retaining screw 6.

When joining the thermal recording head configured as above and the flexible pattern cable by pressure welding, after the pressure welding work (after tightening with screw 6), continuity can be checked by resistance value to see if the work is complete. As a result, it was impossible to distinguish between the normal bonded state shown in FIG. 2 and the incomplete bonded state shown in FIG. 3. Further, the condition shown in FIG. 3 progresses due to changes in the environment such as temperature and humidity, and eventually leads to conduction failure such as short circuit with adjacent patterns as shown in FIG. 4. This phenomenon is caused by the increase in the number of printed dots, i.e., the conductive contact area 1a in Fig. 2.
, 3a becomes even more noticeable by reducing the width l of 3a. To avoid this, high-precision jigs and tools have been used to align the conductive contact parts 1a and 3a, and screening has been carried out using heat cycle tests at low and high temperatures after the pressure welding process. It was inviting a transformation.

Structure of the Invention In order to achieve the above object, the thermal recording head of the present invention has an opening in a part of the entire pressure-welding fitting at the joint between the head and the flexible pattern cable, which serves as a path for guiding the applied voltage supplied from the drive circuit. It is constructed so that it can be visually observed by providing a section, which increases the reliability of the joint state, reduces the number of work steps, and furthermore realizes cost reduction.
