【発明の詳細な説明】
高周波溶着法は軟質塩化ビニル樹脂をはじめ、硬質塩化
ビニル樹脂、エチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合樹脂等、高周
波感応性のある熱可塑性樹脂の接合に広く用いられてい
る。高周波接合法は、一般に15 MHzから40 M
Hzの高周波電流を、出力電極とアース電極の間に置い
た高周波感応性樹脂に流し、内部発熱によシ接合する方
法である。高周波接合加工時に起きるトラブル緯電極間
に生ずるスパークであシ、溶着不良、ピンホール等の発
生原因となシ、電極も損傷を受ける。溶着電極の形状が
比較的単純でかつ平面的な場合は、電極間に平均的に電
流が流れ、スパークを生じにくいが、溶着と同時に溶着
加工物に薄肉部を形成させ、切取線を設けるよう表加工
の場合には、尚該薄肉部に高周波電流が集中するため、
しばしばスパークを生ずる。シート相互の溶着の場合、
このような薄肉部を形成させるのには、シート肉厚よシ
やや低めに突出した刃を取り付け、溶着を行なう方法が
用いられる。この場合スパークの防止には、フッ素樹脂
、フェノール樹脂等の耐熱性プラスチックフィルム又は
薄板あるいは藪紙等の電気絶縁体を電極と相対するアー
ス電極板上に敷く方法が用いられることが多い。

一方押出成形又は射出成形等によシ得られた中空状成形
品とシート状プラスチックを立体的に溶着する場合には
、中空状成形品の内径寸法形状に#ユは合致したアース
電極を配し、溶着する方法がとられている。この場合、
中空状成形品とシートの接合部の一部に薄肉部を形成さ
せるために、外側の電極に薄肉部に対応する凸部を設け
、アース電極との間隙を狭くし溶着を行なう方法がとら
れている。容易に切シ取シできるためには、この薄肉部
の肉厚は0.3 rrrm以下にすることが望ましいが
、電極凸部とアース電極間に電流が集中し、高率でスパ
ークを生じ実用上製品化が困難である。

本発明者らは電極のスパークしやすい部分を予じめ電気
絶縁体で作成することにより高周波溶着が可能で、かつ
スパークの発生を防止できることを見出し本発明に至っ
た。

以下実施例を図面に従って説明する。
中空状成形品(1)をシート状プラスチック(2)の間
に挿入し、立体溶着部(4)を形成する場合には、第2
図に示すような高周波電極(5)の立体溶着部に対応す
るアース電極(6)を用い、高周波電流を流すことが必
要である。当該立体溶着部に切シ取り用の薄肉部(3)
を得るために、薄肉部形成用凸部(7a)を設けたが、
高周波電流は電極間隙の狭い凸部(7a)付近に集中し
、しばしばスパークを生じ、ピンホールが生じ、なおか
つ電極を損傷したため、安定した製品を得ることができ
なかった。かかる障害を除くため、本発明者らは、第3
図に示すように薄肉形成用凸部(7b)を電気絶縁体で
あるアルミナ焼結体で作成し、高周波電極(5)と接合
した電極を用いて溶着を行なったところ、スパークを全
く生ずることなく、薄肉部(3)を形成可能であること
を見出した。電流は電極(5)とアース電極(6)との
間に流れるため、薄肉部(3)に相対する凸部絶縁体(
7b)近傍は周囲からの伝熱で十分加熱され、良好な溶
着状態を示し、薄肉部(3)を形成することができた。

あるアルミナ焼結体で作成し、高周波電極(5)と接合
した電極を用いて溶着を行なったところ、スパークを全
く生ずることなく、薄肉部(3)を形成可能であること
を見出した。電流は電極(5)とアース電極(6)との
間に流れるため、薄肉部(3)に相対する凸部絶縁体(
7b)近傍は周囲からの伝熱で十分加熱され、良好な溶
着状態を示し、薄肉部(3)を形成することができた。
他の実施例では、薄肉部形成用凸部(7a)に相対する
アース電極(6)に、凸部(7a)の先端部よシ広巾で
アルミナによシ厚さ0.5mのアース電極絶縁層(8)
を設けた電極を用いた。高周波電流は絶縁層(8)が比
較的薄いために完全には絶縁されず、一部が流れるため
、良好な溶着状態が得られ、薄肉部(3)を形成するこ
とができる。絶縁層の好ましい厚さは、1溶着に必要な
電流値によシ異なるかい一絶縁層を作成する精度も考慮
に入れると、0.1mn以上が必要で、o、2tpaか
ら1mの厚みが好ましい。厚すぎる場合は電流が弱くな
り、溶着が不完全となる。
アース電極(6)に、凸部(7a)の先端部よシ広巾で
アルミナによシ厚さ0.5mのアース電極絶縁層(8)
を設けた電極を用いた。高周波電流は絶縁層(8)が比
較的薄いために完全には絶縁されず、一部が流れるため
、良好な溶着状態が得られ、薄肉部(3)を形成するこ
とができる。絶縁層の好ましい厚さは、1溶着に必要な
電流値によシ異なるかい一絶縁層を作成する精度も考慮
に入れると、0.1mn以上が必要で、o、2tpaか
ら1mの厚みが好ましい。厚すぎる場合は電流が弱くな
り、溶着が不完全となる。
以上の実施例では電極(5)かアース電極(6)のいず
れかに絶縁体を用いたが、双方に用いても良く、凸部絶
縁体(7b)は第3図に示すような板状でなく、アース
電極と同様に層状であってもよい。文月いる絶縁体は、
アルミナのほか、炭化ケイ素、チッ化ケイ素、酸化クロ
ム等の焼結体(いわゆるセラミックス)、あるいはフッ
素樹脂、ポリイミド樹脂等の耐熱性プラスチックが適す
るが、耐久性の点で特にセラミックスが好結果であった
。

Claims (1)
- プラスチック中空状成形品と、プラスチックシート又は
成形品を高周波溶着するとともに、部分的に薄肉部を形
成する方法であって、該薄肉部に対応する凸部を有する
電極と中空状成形品の内部に挿入する棒状電極を用い、
該電極の一方又は双方の一部又は表面に電気絶縁体を配
して溶着することを特徴とする高周波溶着方法
