Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 通常の負傷包帯は4つの主要な種類に分けられ
る。
平坦なガーゼ包帯は一般に傷の上に直接かある
いは非接着包帯の上に間接的に用いられる。この
種の包帯の主な機能は血液及び他の分泌物を負傷
部から腹部パツドのような流体保持貯蔵部へ持ち
上げかつ移送することである。
洗浄したガーゼ包帯は、より柔軟な開いたメツ
シユのかさばつたスポンジが分泌物を移送するの
に必要とされるところに用いられる。このような
包帯は適用されるとき、ある穏やかな圧迫と非洗
浄ガーゼスポンジよりもより緩衝性を与えるスポ
ンジ構造体を提供する。しかしながらこの材料は
厚さが均一でなくかつ幾つかの層は最適の圧力を
与えるのに用いられねばならない。
在来の使用における他の型の包帯は充填したガ
ーゼスポンジであり、これは一又は二層の非洗浄
ガーゼ及び線又はレーヨン繊維の内側基材とから
成り、これはある場合にはちりめん状にしたセル
ローズの詰め物の層を含む。この種の包帯は限定
した量の分泌物を吸収しかつ保持するための小さ
な流体貯蔵部として用い得る。これは柔軟性とか
さ高性に欠け、また分泌物を洗浄したガーゼ包帯
が達し得るのと同じ量に移送する能力に欠ける。
最後に在来の使用における他の種類の包帯は充
填したガーゼスポンジと同様であり、不織材料に
よるガーゼカバーの交換が異なるだけである。こ
の種の包帯は充填したガーゼスポンジと同様の特
性を有するが、ガーゼと比較して湿つた場合に強
度が増加するような付加の不完全性を有する。不
織材料における化学結合剤の存在は更にある患者
に対し刺激を与えるかもしれない。この種のある
包帯は開口した不織カバーを有し、これは負傷部
に接着するばかりではなく、開口部がそれのカバ
ーする肉芽の生じる組識よりも大きいために、こ
の組識は開口を通して成長しかつ癒着を遅らせ
る。この種の包帯はその移送特性がセルローズ詰
め物フイラーにより乏しいという別の欠点を有す
る。吸収性であるが、それにもかかわらず良好な
流体移送特性を有し、負傷部に粘着しないで繊維
性材料の水分をはじく傾向にできるだけ拘束され
ないままであるよう良好な表面一貫性を有する使
い捨ての手術用包帯はいまだ廉価に製造されてい
ない。
従つて病院用の廉価な使い捨ての手術用包帯を
提供することが本発明の一目的であり、これはそ
のより高価な同等物の全ての利点をそれらに固有
の欠点なしに有する。
本発明は従つて親水性織物繊維の層及び前記層
の少なくとも一側にある疎水性の熱可塑性織物繊
維の層とを備える不織繊維から成る生地であつ
て、前記両層は相互に結合されて、繊維が高度に
圧縮される長斜方形の高密度部分と、前記高密度
部分の四辺に隣接する長斜方形の中間密度部分
と、前記中間密度部分により四辺が囲まれる長斜
方形の低密度部分とを備え、結合した生地は一層
高密にされて一連の繰返す幅方向の起伏が形成さ
れ、前記高密度部分の層間の結合を低減すること
なく前記中間密度部分と低密度部分との多孔性を
一層増大する、手術用包帯として用いるのに適し
た不織生地を提供するものである。
親水性繊維の層は55〜100%のレーヨン繊維及
び45〜0%のポリエステル繊維の混合物から成
り、また他の1つ又は複数の層は疎水性仕上げを
施し得るポリエステル繊維であり得る。
本発明は添付図面を参照して更に説明される。
第1図は層状生地を示し、疎水性織物長熱可塑
性繊維の外層12間にはさまれた親水性織物長繊
維11の内層を備えている。この生地の層は、米
国特許第3542634号明細書に記載されるように、
生地を一対の螺施状に溝をつけたロールの間に通
し、第2図に示すように隔てた長斜方形の部分
(ここで生地は異なる圧迫割合を受ける)で生地
の層を互に接着させることにより、熱と圧力のも
とで互に接着される。これらの長斜方形部分は一
方のローラー上のランドが他方のロール上のラン
ドを横切る密度の極めて大きい部分22、部分2
2の各側に接しかつ一方のロール上のランドが他
方のロール上の溝を横切るところに形成される中
間の密度の部分23、及び一方のロール上の溝が
他方のロール上の溝を横切るところの部分22の
隅部に隣接する実質的に密度の小さい部分24と
を含む。典型的な場合結合した生地の表面区域の
いずれのユニツトにもほぼ25%の密度の極めて大
きい部分22,25%の密度の小さい部分24及び
50%の中間の密度の部分23がある。この長斜方
形の部分は等しい側部を有しているように示され
ているがこれは必須なものではない。
第3図に示されるごとく、32で示される密度
の極めて大きい部分はこれらの部分における繊維
の高い密度と結合のため、実質的に開いた即ち多
孔性の部分をもたない。34で示される実質的に
密度の小さい部分はこれらの部分における密度が
少ないため比較的多孔性でかつ開いている。
結合の後、生地は米国特許第3260778号明細書
に記載のごとく、生地を隆起面をもつロールと遅
延部材との間を通すことにより、生地をその幅方
向に延ばして繰返す一連の起伏に再配列するため
更に密集度を受ける。
この処理の結果として変化している密集度の長
斜方形部分は実施される繊維の再配列及び移動に
より更に開きかつ多孔性となる。これは特に中間
の密度の部分及び密度の小さい部分に当てはま
る。この更なる密集の間発生される圧迫はこれら
の部分により大きな再配列作用を及ぼし、また生
地の吸収容量は2つ折り近くに増大する。更にま
た、生地の結果的に増大した表面積により、吸収
材料及び流体移送割合も増大する。更に密集する
と中間の密度の部分及び密度の小さい部分にのみ
かなり影響を及ぼし、また密度の極めて大きい部
分には重大な作用はなく従つて生地の主要な結合
点はそつくりそのままで残る。
第4図は生地に起伏41を付与するため、結合
されかつ上述したごとく更に密集された生地40
を示す。僅かに小さな起伏即ち微少ひだ42も又
生地全体を通して点在される。これらの起伏41
と42は繊維を互に保持している主要な結合力を
かなり破壊することなく生地に繊維相互の関係を
開くことができることがわかつた。第5図からわ
かるように第3図と比較すると、密度の極めて大
きい部分52は密集段階が達成される前よりも幾
分多孔性でかつ開いており、一方中間の密度の部
分(図示せず)及び実質的に密度の小さい部分5
4はより多く開きかつ多孔性であり、従つて生地
を実質的により吸収性にしまたその密集しない対
応物よりも更にロフトを有する。
一方第1図は疎水性繊維の一対の外層間にはさ
まれた親水性繊維の内層を示し、単一の外層のみ
を備えることができ、この生地は結合と密集の後
それ自体で折畳まれ、親水性繊維が疎水性繊維の
2つの外層間に囲まれる最終的な生地を与えるこ
とは理解されよう。
手術用包帯は本発明による生地から作ることが
でき、これはより高価な対応物の利点の全てをそ
れら固有の欠点なしに有する。例えば優位なレー
ヨン内部コア層の囲りにはさんだ外部親水仕上げ
を施したポリエステルの外層(1.5デニール、1
1/2インチEastman Type 41Dのような)を用い
てこのような包帯に重要な以下のごとき品質又は
特質を有している手術用包帯を製造する。従つ
て、優秀な非粘着特性、一層高価な在来の包帯と
等しい吸収性、及び包帯が繊維材料をほつれさせ
ないよう充分に改良された表面保全性を有する。
前記イーストマン(Eastman)ポリエステル繊維
の外面の親水性仕上げは繊維の本質的に疎水性を
変えないが体液を生地の外層を通して迅速に移送
することができる。
実施例 各々がほぼ20%の全生地重量グラム1平方ヤー
ド(gms/sq.yd.)である約11/2インチの長さ
を有している100%の1.5デニールポリエステルの
一対の外層は、85%の1.5デニール19/16インチ
長のレーヨン繊維及び15%の3.0デニール、11/2
インチ長のポリエステル結合繊維の混合した内部
コア層の両側に施された。結果として生じる層に
した織物は米国特許第3542634号明細書に述べた
ように熱と圧力のもとで結合され、前に述べた
種々に密集した長斜方形の部分の繰返しパターン
を形成する。
この生地は次に米国特許第3260778号明細書に
述べたように密集器内で処理され、従つて生地に
一連の繰返す幅方向の起伏を付与し、また密度の
極めて大きい部分、中間の密度の部分及び実質的
に密度の小さい部分を以前よりも更に目があらく
多孔性にする。
ほぼ37.6グラム/平方ヤードの重量をもつ生地
は(Ames―Mercerゲージで測定されるように)
26.0ミルの厚さを有し、14.7cm3/gのかさを有
し、またほぼ1100%の吸収容量を有した。これら
の数字は密集される前の同じ生地の数字、即ち34
グラム/平方ヤードの重量、12.5ミルの厚さ、
7.85cm3/gのかさ、及び640%の吸収容量と比較
される。
実施例 80%の1.8デニールの11/2インチ長のポリプロ
ピレン繊維と75%の漂白した梳毛綿繊維の内部コ
ア層の囲りにはさんだ20%の3.0デニールポリオ
レフイン結合繊維の一対の表面層及び25%の3.0
デニールポリオレフイン結合繊維は実施例に述
べたように結合されかつ密集された。
結果として生じる不織生地は良好な表面一貫性
を有している柔軟で吸収性の材料であり、また改
善されたかさ高、厚さ及び吸収性を有するもので
あつた。
実施例 ほぼ6グラム/平方ヤードの重量の11/2イン
チ長の1.5デニールポリエステル繊維の層及びほ
ぼ24グラム/平方ヤードの重量の層から成り、ま
た80%の19/16インチ長の1.5デニールレーヨン
繊維及び20%11/2インチ長の3.0デニールポリエ
ステル結合繊維から成る2層の生地は熱と圧力の
もとで結合され、また次に前述したように密集さ
れた。結合しかつ密集した生地は次にレーヨン層
がポリエステル外層間にはさまれる内層となるよ
うに生地自体折畳まれた。この生地から作られる
不織の手術用包帯は3層構造と同様の良好な吸収
容量を有し、通常の包帯の所望の非粘着特性と吸
収性、及び繊維状材料にはじくかなり減少した傾
向を有した。
生地の吸収容量は密集段階によりかなりまた思
いがけなく増大された。一方この生地はそれ自体
の重量の約6倍の密集の前に吸収容量を有し、こ
の生地の吸収容量は繊維の有効な結合を維持しな
がら密集することによりそれ自体の重量の11倍以
上に増大される。
熱可疎性でかつ疎水性面を有している本発明に
よる生地から作られる包帯は生地の熱可塑性繊維
の溶解により部分的に綿の表面をもつ材料より繊
維状材料にはじく傾向に拘束されない。セルロー
ズ状繊維は熱と圧力のもとで結合されるとき付近
にセルローズ状繊維をもつ弱い自己結合だけを形
成する。その上、セルローズ状繊維は幾分壊れや
すく、またこれらからなる不織ウエブを作るのに
用いられるけば立て作用はある繊維を壊しがちで
あり、また短片繊維又は塵の望ましくない現出と
なる。しかしながら、熱可塑性繊維はより弾性が
あり、それ故壊れやすくない。更にまた熱可塑性
繊維は熱と圧力のもとで結合されるとき水溶液に
より破壊されない付近の繊維で結合を形成するの
で生地の表面の一貫性を増大する。
包帯の外層はより高い疎水性率を有する。疎水
性率は一般に70〓(約21℃)で65%の相対湿度に
おいて繊維に対しパーセント湿度が回復する場合
で表現される。疎水性の層に用いられる繊維は5
%以下の湿度範囲を有する。
熱可塑性繊維の外面及び親水性繊維の内層は傷
に対する包帯の非粘着の相当して望ましい特性で
良好な吸水性を与える。疎水性面の傷との密接な
接触は、傷それ自体に接着することなく体液が包
帯に容易に移動するのを可能にする。疎水性面は
体液のみを移動し、かつ湿度を維持せず、一方親
水性の層は体液を集めかつ液体を隣接する第2の
包帯に移送する。
本発明による生地は指のばんそうこうその他に
用いる包帯基材としても有利に用い得る。

ぞれ示している。 11…親水性繊維の層、12…疎水性繊維の
層、22,32,52…密度の極めて大きい部
分、23…中間の密度の部分、24,34,54
…実質的に密度の小さい部分、41…起伏。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1 親水性織物繊維の層及び前記層の少なくとも
    一側にある疎水性の熱可塑性織物繊維の層とを備
    える不織繊維から成る生地であつて、前記両層は
    相互に結合されて、繊維が高度に圧縮される長斜
    方形の高密度部分と、前記高密度部分の四辺に隣
    接する長斜方形の中間密度部分と、前記中間密度
    部分により四辺が囲まれる長斜方形の低密度部分
    とを備え、結合した生地は一層高密にされて一連
    の繰返す幅方向の起伏が形成され、前記高密度部
    分の層間の結合を低減することなく前記中間密度
    部分と低密度部分との多孔性を一層増大する、手
    術用包帯として用いるのに適した不織生地。 2 親水性繊維の層の両側に隣接している疎水性
    の熱可塑性繊維の層を含む特許請求の範囲第1項
    に記載の不織生地。 3 親水性繊維の層が55〜100%レーヨン繊維と
    45〜0%ポリエステル繊維の混合物である特許請
    求の範囲第1項又は第2項に記載の不織生地。 4 疎水性繊維の層がポリエステル繊維である特
    許請求の範囲第1項から第3項の任意の1項に記
    載の不織生地。 5 疎水性繊維の各層における繊維が外部親水性
    仕上げを施される特許請求の範囲第1項から第4
    項の任意の1項に記載の不織生地。
