Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a stable superconductive material having higher Tc than conventional superconductive materials and small change Tc with time, by carrying out preburning and/or sintering process of a powder mixture of oxides or carbonates of specific three elements in an oxygen-containing atmosphere having a given partial pressure at a specific temperature.
CONSTITUTION: A powder mixture of oxides or carbonates of one element M1 of elements of group IIa and IIIa, one element M2 of elements of group IIa and IIIa and one element of elements of group IbWIIIb is prepared. In this case, Cu may be cited as M3, Ba or Sr as M1 and Y, Sc or La as M2, respectively. Then the powder mixture is preburnt, ground, further molded and sintered to give an oxide superconductive material of perovskite type or perovskite-like type. In the operation, the preburning and/or sintering process is carried out in an oxygen atmosphere having 0.2W500atm. partial pressure at 700W1,000°C. Consequently, a novel superconductive material capable of using liquid N2 as a cooling medium and having high Tc and stable characteristics can be obtained.
