Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the coloring effect and its durability of a granular fertilizer and to reduce the coloring cost by forming an aq. solution of a condensation product of urea and formaldehyde, that contains an added colorant and treating a granular fertilizer material with this aq. solution.
CONSTITUTION: This method comprises: first, mixing and dissolving a colorant into an aq. solution of a condensation product of urea and formaldehyde (UF condensation product) beforehand; and then, treating a granular fertilizer material with this aq. solution contg. a colorant through tumbling or immersion coating by using a rotary drum, pan-type granulator, or the like. At this time, a very thin colored coating layer having a thickness of some μm units is simply formed on the surface of each of the fertilizer material granules. Since the coating layer has strong adhesion to the surface of each of the fertilizer material granules, peeling of the coating film from the granule can durably be prevented from occurring over a long period. Further, since such a very thin coating layer is sufficient to fulfill the purpose, the coloring effect and its durability of a granular fertilizer can be improved and the coloring cost can be reduced.
