Abstract

PURPOSE:To always execute a stable data reading operation even when the material of a disk is different and to secure the compatibility of the disk is result by realizing the writing operation of data with a proper writing current. CONSTITUTION:When write data WD and a write gate signal WG are outputted from a host system 13 to a floppy disk drive 10, a write circuit 11 starts the writing operation, supplies the writing current to a magnetic head 14 and writes data corresponding to the data WD to the disk based on this current. Next, a mode signal to set the proper writing current is outputted from the system 13 and the head 14 sends the data written to the disk to a read circuit 12. Then, a read signal AR, which is amplified in the circuit 12, is outputted to a comparing circuit 15 and compared with a reference signal set in advance. When the level of the signal AR is less than a proper level, the writing current to the circuit 11 is changed to a proper value by a current switching circuit 16.
