Związki mające ugrupowanie karboksylanowe albo bioizosteryczną polarną grupę funkcyjną hamują kwaśną chitynazę ssaków. Także podane są sposoby stosowania związków do leczenia reakcji astmatycznych powodowanych przez alergeny.
