<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>

<Desc/Clms Page number 13>
<Desc/Clms Page number 14>
Si l'on
<Desc/Clms Page number 15>
A partir
<Desc/Clms Page number 16>

<Desc/Clms Page number 22>

To actuate the nailers of the buttress, a spring can be used which is controlled by the movement of a movable part of the machine, preferably a part brought into play almost at the start of the operating cycle - for example, the locking mechanism. ment of the work holder common to machines of the current type.
The same results can be obtained with a system also illustrated here, whereby the nailers of the counter fort, occupying their upper position, are driven over the bottom of the shoe with the reel, then turned backwards by them. closer to the bottom of the shoe
Another important feature of the invention comprises the combination, with a reel mechanism and cloeur (or other means intended to act on the bottom of the

In the, 14aitlon illustrated opposite, the initial positive brand of the work holder keeps it raised and away from the machine to allow the work to be placed on it, the offal seur then being placed between the shoe and the machine with its active face above the plane of the bottom of the shoe.
The movement of the work carrier towards the machine first brings the step down and the boot closer together, bringing the former above the bottom of the latter; then, the work carrier continuing to '' move forward towards the machine, the lowering device moves with the boot and in relation to it to engage on it and lower it to a given point,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
that is to say so that, when it is finally presented to the action of the tools which must act on its part below, this part occupies the plan which best suits the good execution of the work of the said tools *
Another feature of the invention consists in a new method of clamping the projection of the upper at the rear of the boot.
A tab is used for this purpose which clamps the upper against the reel, said tab remaining in the air, that is to say away from the upper, during the presentation of the shoe to the machine, preferably occupying a certain vertical position. determined in advance, then grabbing the protruding edge of the rod and pinching it onto the reel.
In doing so, the tab describes a large arc of a circle, the center of which is somewhat above the reel and approximately in the vertical plane of its shank clamp face.
Another feature of the invention resides in a mechanism serving to keep the work holder securely in the inactive position, that is to say completely away from the machine. Thanks to this arrangement, the operator, after putting a buttress between the upper and its lining, can push up and down on the parts of the shoe by tightening them against the back of the form, the friction of the lining on the wood of the form thus erasing all bends. Maintaining the form securely in place also allows the operator to more conveniently place, if necessary, seeds that the machine would not have driven into the work. The arrangement is such that the shoe holder is released, to allow it to descend, almost at the start of its movement towards the machine.
Another important feature of the invention c ompor te the use of means which ensure that the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
seeds of the buttress will always be placed at specified distances from the edge of the form, regardless of its width. As illustrated opposite, the nailers of the buttress and the shoe perform a relative movement which brings them above the casing thereof, then a relative movement is automatically imparted to said nailers which drives them towards the outside the casing until they are placed on each side, at determined distances from the edge of the form.
Preferably, the nailers stay almost together as they advance over the casing, therefore more easily stepping over the protrusion of the shank at the rear of the shoe, after which they move away from each other taking their position. active position. This spacing is preferably produced by a mechanism whose position is controlled by a dimension of the shoe and which measures, for example, the width of the latter, this measuring mechanism cooperating with means on the nailers while they advance over the bottom of the shoe, so as to cause them to separate until they are placed at detent distances, constant and preferably equal, from the opposite edges of the block of the form.
Another feature of the present invention comprises means by which the seed-carrying spouts of the nailing menanisumes of the buttress are brought closer to the work before exploding the seeds. For this purpose, the seed-carrying spouts are provided with a movement. limited in the direction of the work and brought into contact with it by suitable means before the pushers drive the seed contained in each seed carrier into the work.
Another feature of the invention comprises means allowing the lower stopper to
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
the rear of the shoe to lend itself to the particular dimension and curve of the shape in use, as well as the means which make the said stopper after being placed at the desired point, remains blocked in order to be able to clamp the form in the machine by a pressure force directed towards the rear. For this purpose, the lower stopper is made to move with and relative to the shoe, and the upper stopper mounted in the same way, a suitable mechanism preventing the lower stopper from yielding when the upper stopper is moved back into the machine.
Another feature of the invention resides in the means intended to prevent one of the seeds distributed to one of the posterior nailers from being disturbed by the shock produced by the prior insertion of the other posterior seed. For this, the driver of the upper nailer is moved during the action of the driver of the lower nailer, in order to retain the upper seed in a narrow housing of the seed passage, the upper nailer being pulled back and then released. after sinking the lower seed.
A similar arrangement can be used to avoid disturbing the sementes distributed to the vertical renters, while they are raised in order to place themselves over the bottom of the shoe.
The invention also comprises the use of a new mechanism to start the machine during the movement of the work holder. It further comprises the use of means brought into play while the shoe is approaching the machine in order to determine the position in which the latter will be worked by the latter; means which start the machine as a result of the movement of the shoe; finally, means for clamping the shoe and working it.

The particularities of the invention listed above, as well as others, y. including certain new forms of construction and various combinations of parts, will emerge clearly from the description which will follow with regard to the attached drawing, including:

The machine illustrated in fig.l is of the model of that forming the subject of the aforementioned patent of addition, to which the reader is requested to refer for all the details which are lacking here. 2 lesigune the column or base of the machine to which is articulated at 4 the foot 6 of the form-holder candlestick 8, also called the work-holder. This candlestick, which is hollow in order to be able to slide vertically with respect to said foot 6, is held normally raised by a spring 10, of small gauge, which presses on a plug 12 crimped in the foot 6 and entering with gentle friction in the bottom of the candlestick 8. This spring bears from above against a pin 13 passing through the candlestick, from where it follows that the latter is elastically supported by the spring 10.
In the top of the candlestick 8 is introduced a slide 14 surmounted by a pin 16 intended 'to engage the die of the form. The slide 1 @ is prevented from turning in the tube and its vertical movement is limited by a screw 17 passed through and engaging in a buttonhole of the tube 8. Mounted idle on the top of the slide 14 and pressing on the top of the tube. tube 8 is a sleeve 18, the upper edge of which is armed with notches located at different heights, and intended to engage a chin 20 implanted in the slide 14. To vary the altitude of the ankle holder relative to the candlestick 8 and alter it as a result of the shapes varying greatly between them in terms of height, it suffices to lift the slide 14 and turn the sleeve 18.
The front face of the extender * lier carries ratchet teeth 22 which can engage a pawl mounted on an oscillator 24 articulated at the foot of the candlestick by journals 25 'arranged one on each side of said candlestick. This work holder system, described further below
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
afterwards, does not differ essentially from that of the machine of the aforementioned patent of addition.
When the work holder is in the desired position to put the work on or take it off, for the reasons set out above, it should be supported in a way that prevents it from descending. For this purpose, the candlestick 8 is provided with a roller 26 which, when the work holder is completely outside, comes into contact with the tetroussés end of an arm 27, the opposite end of which is permanently fixed. to the frame of the pachine. The shoe is therefore firmly supported when its support is in the position shown in fig. 1. On the other hand, when said support is brought closer to the machine, the roller remains above a hollow made in the arm 27 (see the dotted line in fig.l) and nothing opposes the lowering the shoe.
The inclination of the work holder towards the outside is limited by a rod 28 pivoting at 29 on the foot 6 and passing through an opening in the base 2. On the rod, inside the base, a spring 30 is wound which is held in place on the rod by a nut 32 and engages the base in order to limit in a yielding or elastic manner the external movement of the support.
We may describe the mechanism which lowers the work holder to a given point following the bringing together of 'the latter of the machine.
A step-down 34 is fixed in an adjustable position by means of a screw 35 at the top of a vertical bar 36 provided, at the bottom, with a slide 38 (fiG.3) which embraces freely one of the journals25, participating by con - sequent to the movement of foot 6 in the direction of the machine. Between the bottom of the bar 36 and a chin 39 on the foot 6 is stretched obliquely a spring 37.
This spring exerting its pulls from bottom to top and
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
towards the rear, it follows that one component of this traction tends to raise the bar while the other component urges it 9 'to turn outwards around the journal 25. A connecting rod 40, attached by a end to a pivot 41 implanted in the frame of the machine, extends from top to bottom and forward when the work holder occupies the position shown in fig. 1 the bottom of said connecting rod being loose on a pin 42 which passes through the barie 36 at about its mid-length and is held in place therein by a tightening screw 44. the pin 42 is extended and bent inwards to place it to meet the candlestick 8 And, preferably, it is also provided with a roller 46 on which the said candlestick will engage.
By loosening the screw 44 and turning the spindle 42 more or less, it is possible to vary the amplitude of the movement of the work holder with respect to said spindle. As the work holder approaches the machine, it goes without saying that the perforated bottom of the bar 36 moves with it, causing the bar to oscillate around the spindle 42, as the center and bringing one of the l 'another the step-down 34 and the shoe threaded onto the shoe holder 26, so that when the stanchion 8 meets the roller 46 on the spindle 42, the step-down 34 is already serving over the Bond of the shoe and preferably press on its casing part, as indicated in dotted lines in fig. 5 The candlestick, continuing to advance, causes the connecting rod 40 to leave the inclined position which it shows in fig.
1 to assume an upright position, which
34 lowers the bar 36 with the step which then engages on the bottom of the boot and lowers it to a given point by compressing the spring 10. This lowering of the boot is carried out so as to give it the desired vertical position in relation to the positioning, clamping, folding and nailing mechanisms with which the machine is equipped and which function in such a way as to

rod and counter strong as it should relative to each other on the form, then secure them in place. The degree of lowering of the shoe can be varied by adjusting the depressor 34 in its bar 36.
A shape!. provided with a first b (stuck above) and capped with a rod c placed freely on said forne, is threaded on the pin 16 of the work holder, then a stamped buttress d is inserted between the rod and its lining e the buttress preferably being coated with glue to prevent it from moving in the rod. After adjusting the buttress to the desired position relative to the upper and liner, the operator holds the back of the upper. pressed will counter shape and push it up and down, causing the liner to rub against the shape and erase any creases.
Once the pieces of the shoe are placed on the form as shown in fig.l, the operator holding the front of the upper applied to the form with two dwarfs, tilts the shoe and its support towards the machine, after which he does not rather than moving the holder. The depressor 34, which has approached the shoe as it came towards it, is placed first over the last, then it descends to lower the shoe to the point where the machine tools can act right on it. Approaching the machine, the rear of the shoe meets a lower stop 50 (through which the posterior seed is driven from the bottom) and moves back said stop until an upper stop 52 (through which is the posterior seed from the top) comes into contact with the shoe.
When this happens, the lower stop is prevented from moving further back by a mechanism *. blocking mechanism which will now be described, while the upper stopper tightens elastically against the shoe.
The lower stop 50 is formed by a block of

V made to slide in the longitudinal direction of the shoe on a low slope ramp. It is in fact carried by a slide 51 provided with a T-shaped tab which fits into a slide of the same shape made in a part 55, relatively fixed, secured to the frame. On the rear end of the slide 51 is fixed a block 57 which carries a plate 59 armed with teeth with hooks 61 oriented towards the rear.
Below said plate is installed a pair of pawls 63 threaded onto a pin 65 implanted in a console 67, the latter being fixed relatively to the slide 51. the parts of the pawls located at the rear of the pivot 65 are square. can be embraced by forks 69 (fig. 14) whose tails 71 pass freely through holes at the bottom of a lever 73 articulated at 75 to part 55., Between
EMI12.1
the lever 73 and the forks 69 are springs 77 rolled on the tails 7Ii The top 73 is placed at the meeting of a slide 79 carrying the V-block constituting the upper stop 52.
Slide 79, par! The slide 51, is made to move in the longitudinal direction of the shoe in an essentially horizontal direction, and it is held elastically close to the shoe by the springs 77, its forward movement being limited by a block 81 integral with the slide 79 and abutting on part 55 when the slide is forward. When the rear of the shoe strikes the block 50, the latter is pushed back, the pawls 63 remaining normally spaced from the teeth 61. On the other hand, when the upper block 52 is fully retracted by the shoe, its inner end exerts pressure on the top of the lever 73 which then rocks on its pivot 75, its lower end re sliding at the same time on the queûedes forks 69.
The point of contact of the lever 73 with the tails 71 is
<Desc / Clms Page number 13>
against the bottom of the pivots 65 of the pawls 63 from which it follows that the movement of this lever brings the pawls into engagement with the teeth 61, thus preventing the lower stop 50 from going further back. One of the pawls 63 is longer than the other by half the spacing of two consecutive teeth of the plate 59, so that the pawls effect the locking of the lower stop 50 in any position where it can be brought. within a half-tooth gap. The upper stop 52, however, continues to be held elastically by the springs 77.
The last part of the movement performed by the work holder to bring the shoe into the above-mentioned position is used to put the machine or the road.
Between the return pulley 54 and the control shaft 56 is interposed a suitable type of clutch. This clutch is brought into play to transmit the driving force to the shaft 56, by traction exerted from top to bottom on the clutch rod 58 (FIG. 3,4). To the latter is attached, near the bottom, a block 60 to which is attached a tension spring 61 which rises obliquely towards the rear and is attached from above to a member 62. Above the block 60, the rod 58 carries a part 64 secured thereto by a clamping screw

65 '.
The part 64 is roughly square in cross-section and dirty posterior and its outer faces / -, are guided respectively by the branohes 66, 68 of the element 62. On the part 64 is also bolted at 67 a plate 69 'which is engaged by a latch 70 fixed to the element 62. The latter, mounted on a pivot 72, carries a lower projecting arm 74 in which passes 4 free play a rod 76 coupled at 29 to the foot 6 of the work holder.
This rod 76 carries an adjustable collar 78 arranged so as to meet the arm 74 while the foot 6 finishes approaching the machine to rotate the element 62 on the shaft 72 in order to fold down.

latch 70 on plate 69 ', which will pull rod 58 down and start the machine.
As soon as the machine starts working, it is advisable to engage the door-work to hold it against the stops 50, 52 and also to prevent it from going lower than the point where it was lowered by the presser 34. The mechanism d 'interlocking, similar to that of the aforementioned patent of addition, comprises a hook 80 (fig.l) pivoting at 72 on column 2 and controlled by a pressure spring 82 interposed between a bracket 84, integral with of said column, and an adjustable collar 86 threaded onto a rod 88 pinned to the hook at 89. The rod 88 is connected from above to an elbow lever 90 (fig. 6) pivoting at 91 on the frame of the machine. andfitted with a roller '92 which rolls on a suitable cam 93 wedged on the shaft 56.
It follows from this arrangement that, as soon as the machine starts to move, the cam 93 allows the spring 82 to act to lift the rod 88 and lower the hook 80 in front of a roller 94 on the foot 6 of the door. -work. The face of the hook 80 bearing on said roller is cut so as to bring said foot $ closer to the machine. It goes without saying that the contact of the shoe with the stops 50, 52 prevents it from moving further, thereby immobilizing the top of the candlestick 8, the bottom of which is in engagement with the stopper 12.
the internal traction exerted on the foot 6 by the hook 80 causes the candlestick 8, relatively fixed, to press against the member 24 below its pivot 25 and tilt it against a piston 96, with spring, which brings about a pawl mounted on it (this pawl is omitted from the drawing) engaged with toothing 22 and blocks the descent of the candlestick.
The movement of the hook 80 is used to return the clutch to the initial position and thus limit the totaling of the shaft 56 to a single revolution. If we

now refer to fig. 3, it will be seen that on the pivot 72 is also articulated a lever 100 ′ coupled to the crobhet by the pin 89. The front of this lever is shaped so as to form a guide 101 (fig. 4) for the interior face of the part. square 64, and it is also provided with a cam-shaped pan engaging the posterior face of the part 64.
This rear face comprises a portion on which the part 64 slides when the clutch comes into play and another portion (104) which, when the hook 80 falls, causes the lever to tilt.
100 on its pivot 72 to push the pocket 64 forward by sufficiently counteracting the posterior component of the traction of the spring 61 'to disengage the latch 70 from the plate 69' and thus allow the upper component of the traction of said spring to be released. 70.
Once the shoe is engaged by the descent of the hook 80, the machine drives a seed through the lower stop 50, in order to fix the rod in place while a reel 110 acting in conjunction with a clamping tab 112 is in progress. to stretch it over the form (fig. 6,7). The reel 110 is preferably so arranged that it advances over the boot, then 'goes up and down on its plantar face, its ascent taking place while the rod is clamped against the reel by the tab 112,' which is new model.
This tab is articulated at 114, that is to say, somewhat above and roughly in the vertical plane of the coactive face of the reel 110. From
<Desc / Clms Page number 16>
of the pivot 114, the tab 112 extends upwards, outwards and downwards, so that when it is moved away from the structure (fig. '6), its active end is located considerably above of the bottom plane of the shoe so as not to interfere with the insertion of the protruding part of the upper in the desired position four the tab and the reel 110. Preferably, said tab ends in a blunt point which is introduced into an indentation made in the coactive face of the reel.
By tilting on its pivot 114, the tab describes a considerable angle, thus allowing the tip of the tab to descend to the rear of the overhanging rod to tighten it against the coactive face of the reel and hold it firmly in place while this the latter performs by mounting its folding movement. the leg $ 11, is controlled by connecting rods 116 attached to it near its active end and coupled to a lever 118 pivoting at 120 and brought into play by a stop screw 122 implanted in an angular lever 124 articulated at 125 ( Fig. 2) said screw holding onto the lever 118 by the action of a spring 126 (fig. 8) when a cam 128 (fig.6) allows it to do so.
Shortly after the reel begins to move, the tab swings on its pivot 114 and describes a large arc of a small radius leaving the position shown in fig. 6 (where it is not in the path of the rod during the presentation of the shoe to the machine) to take. the position shown in fig. 7 (where it firmly holds the edge part of the rod against the reel 110). the rod thus pinched, tab and reel go up to stretch the rod, then come down again to fold it back onto the block of the form. the paw loosens after the reel takes hold of the rod.

It will be observed that the middle nailer is endowed with a translational movement which causes it to leave a certain position at the rear of the shoe in operation to advance it to a given point above the bottom of the shoe. said shoe. enoleShement 80. The nailers of the buttress consist of frames 140, 142 (fig.2) in which slide hammer bars 144, 146, coupled by a universal joint to a head 148 connected to the lever 136.
The push-in bars and the top of the frames 140,142 therefore participate in the movement of the reel holder 134. On the rear faces of said frames are blocks 150, 152 provided with their grout open at the bottom intended to embrace the pegs 154, 156 ( fig. 8). Blocks 150, 152 carry. also 'shanks 158,160 (fig. 2) threaded into the frames of the nailers and held in an adjustable position by clamping screws 161.

maintains the degree of distance between nailers.
The pegs 154, 156 are respectively located in the arms 166,168 of oscillating shafts 170, 172 turned in consoles 174, 176 reported on * frame. A - their outer ends the shafts. 170, 172 carry arms 173, 175 in which are panicked pins 177, 179 freely crossed by rods 182, 184.
On these rods, below said pins, are mounted collars 178, 180 held in place by screws. Tightening . The rods 182, 184 descend and are connected (fig.l) to an elbow lever 186 which is raised by the c @@ - chet 80 and itself raises the arms 173. 175 by the inter- entry of the rods 182, 184 and oscillates the shafts 170, 172 so that the ankles 154, 156 raise and advance, relative to the shoe and to the point shown in fig. 8; the frames of the buttress nailers by compressing the springs 162..On the other hand, when the hook goes down, the springs 162 push the buttress nailers back and up and down to transfer them from the position shown in fig. . 6 & 8 to that shown in fig.
7. The lever 186 is coupled by a suitable mechanism to side flanges 188, 190 (fig.2) that springs 192, 194 will be against the rear flanks of the shoe when the hook 80 descends to engage the shoe in the machine. . Once the buttress cluleurs brought into the position shown in fig. 7 paf the descent of the hook 80, the reel door begins to move over the bottom of the shoe, naturally dragging the top of the push bars with it.

These pegs are so close to the seed jaws 196 of the nailer frames that the reel prints only a slight downshifting motion.

pplémentaire to said nozzles, but the frames are. almost straighten out at the bottom of the shoe. The reel 110 then moves, as explained previously, to push the rod inwards in the interval of the seed spouts 196, the nesting seed in the middle being driven out by the push bar 132, while the bars of pusher 144, 146 will hunt at the same instant, will have the middle box seed, seeds which naturally pass through the fold of the brace but not the stem.
It is preferable to use the forked depressor shown at 34 (fig. 5) if it is necessary that the reel 110 can pass between the forks of the fork while moving forward.
Figures 9 to 12 inclusive illustrate a variant of the control of the buttress nailers. Here, the initial position of these nailers is at the rear of the shoe and they are driven over the bottom of the shoe with the reel 110. A rod 200 passes through the reel holder, 134 and on this rod is slidably mounted, on each side of the machine, a bracket 202 to which a bifurcated member 204 is articulated by means of a pin 206 screwed at 208 into the bracket. The frame 210 of the buttress nailers is housed on each side in the bifurcations of the member 204 and held in place therein by a bolt 212 meshing with an inclined slider 241 formed in the frame.
This slide allows the frames 210 to sow vertically and its inclination makes them separate a little when going down.
The nailers are held in the air and brought together by springs 2I6 (one is mounted in fig. 10) and they are lowered by a mechanism connected to the control lever 124 of the clamping tab. 112. This lever (fig. 9) carries a pin 218 armed with a head which, when the lever moves outwards to loosen
<Desc / Clms Page number 20>
the tab 112 meets a projection 220 on an oscillator 222 pivoting at 224 and carrying two arms 226 each of which engages a flange 228 formed on each nailer holder.
The edges 228 are very clearly shown in FIG. 2.
When the control lever 124 of the leg 112 moves inelastic outwardly under the impulse of its cam 128, this brings the head of the terminal 218 into contact with the projection 220 and rotates the oscillator. 222 (fig.9) in a clockwise direction, the arms 226 lowering the two nailer holders after having advanced over the bottom of the shoe with the reel. Going down, each nailer holder rocks on its pivot 206 to bring its seed-holder beak 196 behind the boot by the action of a cam plate 230 fixed at 232 to each frame 210 (FIG. 10) and cooperating with an adjustable member 234 articulated at the upper end of the pivot 206 and held in place by a screw cap 236 which passes through a slide 238 in said member and which threads into the console 202.
When the nailer holders descend, an inclined face 240 (fig. 12) provided on the plate 230 engages a corresponding face on the member 234 and causes the nailer holder to tilt towards the rear of the shoe on the pivot 206. of its bifurcated support 204. When the nailer holders are released by the reverse movement of the arms 226, they go up and if they were separated, they are brought together by the springs 216, then replaced in initial position by springs 242 (fig. II) interposed between the brackets 202 and the bifurcated members 204.
In FIGS. 15 and 16 is shown a mechanism intended to separate the nailers of the buttress from one another along the width of the shoe with a view to placing these nails at determined distances from the edge of the form. the mechanism in question includes. two pebbles 246
<Desc / Clms Page number 21>
preferably to one of the consoles 202 at the bottom of each oloueur frame. The rollers 246 advance with the nail holders along the shoe rolling on cams 248 formed on the support arms of the side flanges 188, 190. These arms clamp the flanges against the shoe to measure the width and the cams 248 consequently occupy positions corresponding to the width thus measured.
Advancing, as aforesaid, the rollers 246 pass over the cams 248 and deviate from one another across the shoe, thereby bringing the nailers of the buttress into positions determined by the width of the shoe. In addition, since the rollers are adjusted across the shoe on the brackets 202, they can be placed far enough apart to separate little or not as they go forward, which will allow the seeds of the buttress to be inserted as close as the 'we will want the seed nesting in the middle.
Of course, the seeds are distributed all together to the posterior hearts 50, 52. It follows that when the posterior seed from the bottom is driven into the backside of the stem, the posterior seed from the top is already in the seed passage of the nailer. , ready to pass a moment later (fig. 17). However, experience has shown that the shock produced by the placement of the lower seed sometimes disturbs the upper seed in its housing,
EMI21.1
t the top nail then catching the seed in e-blacot-uj5a.ru: space in half or folding it in such a way that it cannot be properly classified later in the work.
This defect is remedied by the addition of a mechanism such as that illustrated in fig.l and 17. The lower nailer 270 (fig.1) is controlled by a lever 274 actuated by a cam 272 while the upper cloeur 276 is controlled by a lever 280 actuated by a cam 278, The cams turn clockwise
<Desc / Clms Page number 22>
of a watch, so that the cam 272 allows the lower nailer to drive out its seed before the cam 278 allows the upper nailer to drive out its seed.
On the other hand, the cam 278 carries a hollow 279 which acts at the moment when the cam 272 causes the depression of the lower seed in order to allow the upper driver to approach its hunting position, as indicated. dotted fig. 17, and thus push its seed into a portion 282 of the seed passage where it remains trapped so that it cannot be moved by the chorion resulting from the insertion of the seed from the bottom.
Once this last seed has been driven into the work, the upper black end is moved back by its cam 278, then released to drive out the upper seed, the cam 138 which actuates the lever 136 carrying the vertical pushers 132, 144,146 (fig. .2) could also be provided with a similar recess 139, to allow said plungers to be lowered into their respective nailers while the latter rise and advance over the shoe, with a view to prevent this movement of the nailers from disturbing the seeds that have been distributed to them.
