Description
Process for the preparation of an N-substituted compound of the pyridone series. It has been found that an N-substituted compound of the pyridone series can be obtained if 2-dimethylamino ethoxypyridine-3-carboxylic acid anilide is rearranged by warming it.
The resulting N-dimethylaminoethyl-2-pyridone-3-carboric anilide melts at 88. It is soluble in organic solvents as well as acids. The colorless monochlorohydrate melts at 2180.
The new base will be used for therapeutic purposes.
Example: 2-Dimethylaminoethoxypyridine - 3 - carboxylic acid anilide is rearranged by heating to around 220 0 to 270.
