Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 Time apparatus The present invention relates to time apparatus using light as an energy source, via solar cells or photoelectric cells.

  We already know clocks using light energy to maintain their movement. Their regulating organ is generally a sprung balance system, the transformation of light energy into electrical energy being carried out there by a solar cell or photoelectric cell. With this kind of pendulum, it is necessary to provide an energy accumulator in their mechanism in order to ensure the maintenance of the regulating organ during periods when the cell is not lit.

   Thus, in some of these pendulums, the photoelectric cell, when it is illuminated, powers an electric motor which, through a. appropriate gear, arms a mainspring, contained in a barrel and playing the role of energy accumulator.

  In other pendulums, the transformation of the light energy into electrical energy is carried out using several solar cells in series, capable of recharging an electrical accumulator which in this case constitutes the energy reservoir.

  On the other hand, pendulums are known having as a regulating member a torsion pendulum; these clocks, commonly known as 400-day clocks, use a mainspring contained in a barrel and manually wound once a year as a source of energy. As a result, they have a significant reduction gear train.

  Finally, electromagnetic winding devices are known which are applied to pendulums with a conventional regulating element, such as a sprung balance, to transform the electrical energy supplied by a battery or an accumulator into mechanical energy used to maintain this regulating member.

     However, all these embodiments require lubrication operations because of the importance of the driving torques involved, which leads to periodic cleaning and maintenance operations for an already high efficiency but much lower than that which could be obtained in many years. such mechanisms.

  In order to remedy these drawbacks, and to ensure a practically lubricating-free operation with the maximum possible efficiency, the present invention relates to a time device, such as a clock and pendulum, using light as a source of energy, by the intermediary of solar cells and of an electric accumulator forming a reservoir of this energy, characterized in that the regulating member is constituted by a torsion pendulum,

     the electrical energy supplied by the accumulator being transformed into mechanical energy by an electromagnetic device driving a motor torque generator member acting on the shaft of the minute set.

     The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.

  In the embodiment shown in the single figure, the regulating member of the time apparatus is constituted by a torsion pendulum with pendular mass 1 and with torsion blade 2 which serves as a suspension for this mass.

  The oscillations of this pendulum are maintained as in apparatus. so-called 400-day pendulum hours, by the action of an anchor 3 cooperating with an escape wheel 4. The escape pinion 5 integral with the wheel 4 is requested by the wheel 6

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 meshing with it and making one revolution on the hour, minute wheel.

  The engine torque applied to the wheel 6 comes from the action of a small engine weight 7 fixed to the end of a rod 8 integral with a shaft 9 coaxial with that of the wheel 6 and actuating the latter by via a pawl 10 in the direction of arrow f.

  A solar cell 11 comprising several elements or photoelectric cells has the effect of transforming the light energy which it receives, when it is illuminated, into electrical energy and recharges a small accumulator shown schematically at 12.

  A second electrical circuit consists of the accumulator 12, a galvanometric frame 13 movable about an axis 14 located in the extension of the shaft 9 integral with the engine weight, a contact 15 carried by the shaft 14 of the frame 13 and a contact 16 carried by the rod 8 integral with the engine weight 7, the circuit is closed by the axis 9 and the accumulator 12.

  When the motor weight 7 has rotated the minute wheel 6 by a certain angle, the circuit closes between contacts 15 and 16 and the current then passes through the galvanometric frame 13. The latter, subjected to the action of 'a permanent magnet, not shown, tends to rotate in the opposite direction of the arrow f and rises the small engine weight 7 by the thrust provided by the contact 15 on the contact 16. The stroke of the frame 13 being limited by fixed stops 17 and 18, when the frame 13 suddenly arrives against the stop 18, at the time of reassembly, the small motor weight 7, by its inertia, continues its movement. The current is interrupted between the contacts 15 and 16. The pawl 10 acts to enter into connection with another tooth of the drive ratchet of the wheel 6.

  At the same time, the galvanometric frame 13, as a result of the rupture of the second electric circuit, rotates in the direction of the arrow f under the action of the weight of the contact 15 until it meets the fixed stop 17.

  The purpose of this arrangement is to apply the engine torque to the wheel. minutes making one revolution per hour, the engine torque having a value not exceeding 10 g / cm. It will be understood that, with this low value, the forces applied to the moving parts, the shafts 9 and 14, as well as the cog transmitting energy to the pendulum, are very low and require practically no maintenance by greasing or renewing the oils. , the wear of these moving parts being practically zero.

  It is obvious that the driving torque which, in this description, is provided by the action of the small weight 7 can result, for example, from the action of a small spring.
