PROCEDIMIENTO PARA FORMAR UN CARBURO DE METAL, TAL COMO CARBURO DE MANGANESO O SILICIO EN UNA REACCION EN ESTADO SOLIDO MEZCLANDO PARTICULAS DE OXIDO DE MANGANESO O SILICIO CON PARTICULAS DE MATERIAL CARBONOSO (POR EJEMPLO COQUE). LOS MATERIALES SE PUEDEN TRANSFORMAR EN AGLOMERADOS QUE INCLUYEN MATERIAL CARBONOSO EN EXCESO Y SE CALIENTAN EN UN RECIPIENTE DE REACTOR ADECUADO. TAMBIEN SE PUEDE AÑADIR UNA FUENTE DE HIERRO, TAL COMO ARRABIO Y/O CHATARRA DE HIERRO. EN ESE CASO, EL CARBURO DE MANGANESO O SILICIO SE DISUELVE EN EL HIERRO FUNDIDO PARA FORMAR ALEACIONES DE FERROSILICIO O FERROMANGANESO.
