ESTA INVENCION PROPORCIONA UNA COMPOSICION MATRIZ PARA LIBERACION SOSTENIDA DE FARMACOS, QUE ESTA FORMADA POR UN AGENTE ACTIVO, UN POLIMERO HIDROFILICO Y UN POLIMERO ENTERICO. ESTE ULTIMO ES IMPERMEBALE A LOS FLUIDOS GASTRICOS Y AYUDA A RETARDAR LA LIBERACION DEL FARMACO EN REGIONES DE PH BAJO, PERMITIENDO ASI EMPLEAR NIVELES MAS BAJOS DE POLIMERO HIDROFILICO. EN LA GAMA DE PH DE LOS FLUIDOS INTESTINALES, ESTE POLIMERO SE DISOLVERA Y AUMENTARA ASI LA PERMEABILIDAD DE LA FORMA DE DOSIFICACION. ESTE PROCEDIMIENTO ES UTIL PARA PROLONGAR LA LIBERACION DE NUMEROSOS AGENTES ACTIVOS CUYA SOLUBILIDAD DISMINUYE AL AUMENTAR EL PH, UNA CARACTERISTICA DE FARMACOS DEBILMENTE BASICOS.
