タイプI引張り試験片および曲げ試験片を上記のように作製する。
この比較例において、60重量%の松材粉(60メッシュ)を、37重量%の高密度ポリエチレン(既報告メルトインデックス0.50、密度0.953g/cm3を有し、エクイスター(Equistar)から商品名Petrothane LB 0100−00で入手可能)、および3重量%の潤滑剤A(カルボン酸塩およびモノ−およびジ−アミドのブレンドであり、既報告滴点67〜77℃を有し、商品名Struktol−TWP 104で市販される)と混合する。配合は、35mm逆回転二軸スクリュー押出機(3/8インチx1.5インチのダイ出口を有するベント式バレルを有する)によって、20rpmおよび溶融温度約330〜335°Fにおいて行った。
この比較例において、60重量%の松材粉(60メッシュ)を、37重量%の高密度ポリエチレン(既報告メルトインデックス0.50、密度0.953g/cm3を有し、エクイスターから商品名Petrothane LB 0100−00で入手可能)、および3重量%の潤滑剤B(改質脂肪酸エステルのブレンドであり、既報告滴点67〜77℃および密度1.005を有し、商品名Struktol−TWP 113で市販される)を、比較例16のように混合する。
この実施例において、60重量%の松材粉(60メッシュ)を、35重量%の比較例14および15の高密度ポリエチレン、1重量%の潤滑剤C(ステアリン酸亜鉛を含有する高さ密度の植物性添加剤であり、ボエロシャー(Boerlocher)からZinc Stearate Kosher、Code 8565として入手可能)、2重量%の潤滑剤D(98重量%のN,N’−エチレンビスステアラミドおよび2重量%のステアリン酸から成り、IMSカンパニー(IMS Company)から商品名Acrawax Cとして市販される)、および2重量%のエチレンビニルトリメトキシシラン(EVTMS)コポリマー(メルトインデックス1.5g/10分、密度0.922g/cc、および1.5重量%トリメトキシシランを有する)と混合する。配合は、35mm逆回転二軸スクリュー押出機(3/8インチx1.5インチのダイ出口を有するベント式バレルを有する)によって、20rpmおよび溶融温度約330〜335°Fにおいて行った。
実施例18の組成物を実質的に再現し、但し、加工助剤を3重量%の潤滑剤E(Lubrazinc(商標)Wとしてクロンプトン・コーポレーションから入手可能な、ステアリン酸亜鉛に基づく組成物)で置き換えた。この試料の分析は、シリコン濃度が373ppmであることを示す。この組成物における架橋を、上記のように行われるキシレン抽出後の組成物の部分におけるシリコン含有量を測定することによって調べる。抽出可能なキシレンにおけるシリコン濃度は491ppmであり、キシレンに不溶性の部分におけるシリコン濃度は478ppmである。
実施例18の組成物を実質的に再現し、但し、潤滑剤Dを潤滑剤Cで置き換えて、組成物が、60重量%の木部繊維、35重量%のHDPE、3重量%の潤滑剤C、および2重量%エチレンビニルトリメトキシシラン(EVTMS)コポリマーを含有するようにした。
実施例18の組成物を実質的に再現し、但し、潤滑剤CおよびDを潤滑剤Aで置き換えて、組成物が、60重量%の木部繊維、35重量%のHDPE、3重量%の潤滑剤A、および2重量%エチレンビニルトリメトキシシラン(EVTMS)コポリマーを含有するようにした。
実施例18の組成物を実質的に再現し、但し、潤滑剤CおよびDを潤滑剤Bで置き換えて、組成物が、60重量%の木部繊維、35重量%のHDPE、3重量%の潤滑剤B、および2重量%エチレンビニルトリメトキシシラン(EVTMS)コポリマーを含有するようにした。
実施例18の組成物を実質的に再現し、但し、潤滑剤CおよびDを潤滑剤Dで置き換えて、組成物が、60重量%の木部繊維、35重量%のHDPE、3重量%の潤滑剤D、および2重量%エチレンビニルトリメトキシシラン(EVTMS)コポリマーを含有するようにした。この試料の分析は、シリコン濃度が412ppmであることを示す。この組成物における架橋を、上記のように行われるキシレン抽出後の組成物の部分におけるシリコン含有量を測定することによって調べる。抽出可能なキシレンにおけるシリコン濃度は678ppmであり、キシレンに不溶性の部分におけるシリコン濃度は350ppmである。
実施例18の組成物を実質的に再現し、但し、潤滑剤CおよびDを潤滑剤F(モンソン・カンパニー(Monson Co.)から商品名Glycolubeで入手可能な、有標の非金属ステアレート潤滑剤)で置き換えて、組成物が、60重量%の木部繊維、35重量%のHDPE、3重量%の潤滑剤F、および2重量%エチレンビニルトリメトキシシラン(EVTMS)コポリマーを含有するようにした。
実施例18の組成物を実質的に再現し、但し、潤滑剤CおよびDを潤滑剤G(フェロ・ポリマー・アディティヴズ(Ferro Polymer Additives)からSXT−2000として入手可能な、金属ステアリン酸塩および非金属潤滑剤、例えばエステルに基づく化合物およびワックスのブレンド)で置き換えて、組成物が、60重量%の木部繊維、35重量%のHDPE、3重量%の潤滑剤G、および2重量%エチレンビニルトリメトキシシラン(EVTMS)コポリマーを含有するようにした。
実施例18の組成物を実質的に再現し、但し、潤滑剤CおよびDを潤滑剤H(フェロ・ポリマー・アディティヴズからSXT−3100として入手可能な、非金属ステアレート潤滑剤)で置き換えて、組成物が、60重量%の木部繊維、35重量%のHDPE、3重量%の潤滑剤H、および2重量%エチレンビニルトリメトキシシラン(EVTMS)コポリマーを含有するようにした。
Claims (24)
- a)セルロース系材料、b)シラン含有ポリマー、およびc)熱可塑性樹脂の混合物または反応生成物を含む組成物。
- 前記セルロース系材料が木部繊維から成る群より選択される、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記組成物が、成分(a)、(b)および(c)の合計重量に基づいて約40〜98重量%のセルロース系材料を含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記シラン含有ポリマーが、約0.1〜約10重量%の、エチレン性不飽和シランから誘導される基を含有する、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記シラン含有ポリマーが、不飽和シラン化合物をα−オレフィンホモポリマーまたはコポリマー骨格にグラフトすることによって生成される、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記シラン含有ポリマーが、エチレン性不飽和シランとα−オレフィンとを共重合させることによって生成される、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記エチレン性不飽和シラン化合物が下記の式

[式中、Rは、エチレン性不飽和ヒドロカルビルまたはヒドロカルビルオキシ基であり;各R’は、独立して、脂肪族飽和ヒドロカルビル基であり;各Yは、独立して、加水分解性有機基であり;nは0〜2である]
で示される、請求項6に記載の組成物。 - 前記組成物が、架橋性であるか、または少なくとも部分的に架橋されている、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記組成物が、成分(a)、(b)および(c)の重量に基づいて約0.5〜約60重量%のシラン含有ポリマーを含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記熱可塑性樹脂が、1つまたはそれ以上の、ポリスチレン、ポリビニルクロリド、ポリエステルおよびそれらの組合せから成る群より選択される、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記熱可塑性樹脂が熱可塑性ポリオレフィンを含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記熱可塑性ポリオレフィンが、エチレンと、C4〜C20直鎖、分岐鎖または環状のジエン、ビニルアセテート、および式H2C=CHR[式中、Rは、水素、C1〜C20直鎖、分岐鎖または環状のアルキル基、またはC6〜C20アリール基である]で示される化合物から成る群より選択される少なくとも1つのコモノマーとのインターポリマーを含む、請求項11に記載の組成物。
- 前記熱可塑性ポリオレフィンが、プロピレンと、エチレン、C4〜C20直鎖、分岐鎖または環状ジエン、および式H2C=CHR[式中、RはC1〜C20直鎖、分岐鎖または環状アルキル基、またはC6〜C20アリール基である]で示される化合物から成る群より選択される少なくとも1つのコモノマーとのコポリマーを含む、請求項11に記載の組成物。
- 前記組成物が、成分(a)、(b)および(c)の重量に基づいて、0重量%超〜約60重量%の熱可塑性樹脂を含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記セルロース系材料が、前記組成物の50重量%未満を構成する、請求項14に記載の組成物。
- 架橋触媒をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記組成物が、0重量%超〜約1重量%の架橋触媒を含む、請求項16に記載の組成物。
- 前記触媒が、オルガノチタネートまたはオルガノジルコネートを含む、請求項16に記載の組成物。
- 前記触媒が、ジブチル錫ジオクトエート、ジブチル錫ジアセテート、ジブチル錫ジラウレート、錫ナフトネート、錫オクトエート、オクタン酸鉛、オクタン酸鉄、オクタン酸亜鉛、テトラブチルオルトチタネート、テトライソプロピルオルトチタネート、エチルアセトアセテートアルミニウムジイソプロピレート、およびアルミニウムトリス(エチルアセテート)から成る群より選択される、請求項16に記載の組成物。
- a)セルロース系材料、b)シラン含有ポリマー、およびc)熱可塑性樹脂の混合物または反応生成物を含む組成物であって、室温で1080時間の浸漬後に、シラン含有コポリマーを実質的に含有しない比較組成物より少なくとも50重量%少ない水を吸収する組成物。
- 熱可塑性樹脂が、エチレンのホモポリマー、またはプロピレンのホモポリマーである、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 潤滑剤および/または加工助剤をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記潤滑/加工が、好ましくは(全組成物の重量に基づいて)0.01〜約10重量%のステアリン酸亜鉛またはステアリン酸アルミニウムを含む、請求項22に記載の組成物。
- シラン含有ポリマーは含有しないことを除いて本発明の組成物と同じ成分を同じ量で含有する比較組成物より25%〜約75%、好ましくは少なくとも約50%速い速度で押し出すことができる、請求項1、6または22に記載の組成物。
