Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:An N-isobutylamide derivative of formula I: [R1 is furyl group, formula II (R2 is H, halogen, or lower alkoxy group)].
EXAMPLE: N-Isobutyl 3-furancarboxamide.
USE: Insecticides and antibacterials.
PROCESS: A carboxylic acid of the formula R1COOH is reacted with thionyl chloride to give an acid chloride of the formula R1COCl, which is isolated and purified, if necessary. The chloride is then reacted with an isobutylamine to give the desired compound of formula I.
