Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to manufacture grain shape slag with less amount of cooling water, by using this apparatus for the processing of molten slag produced at metal lurgical furnaces such as blast furnace, so that soft or hard grain slag of uniform quality can be manufactured even if the amount of molten slag is varied.
CONSTITUTION: This apparatus is to obtain grain slag without any dehydration through uniform cooling of molten slag, and the flow rate adjuster consisting of the flow rate adjusting tank, weir 16, water-cooled rotating drum 17, is provided at the end of slag conduit 13 to introduce the molten slag from the blast furnace. The slag forms the head H at the weir 16, the flow rate is adjusted at the water-cooled rotary drum 17, and the band shape slag of uniform layer thickness t1 in the broadwise direction is obtained. The slag flow rate is regulated by the head H and the layer thickness t1 using the drum 17. Next, the material is transferred to the metallic conveyor 21, cooling is made from the rear side by the cooling water jet nozzle 23. The slag is dropped on the conveyor 24 via the hopper 26, cooled with suitable amount of water in the spray device 25 and contained in the storage tank 28 via the distributor 27. The grain-shaped slag obtained contains almost no water.
