NEW MATERIAL:The trihaloallyl derivative of formula (X1 and X2 are Br or I; R1 is lower alkyl; R2 and R3 are H or lower alkyl).
EXAMPLE: 1,1,2-Triiodo-1-buten-3-ol.
USE: Repellent for vermins. Effective to vermints such as cockroach, mosquito, fly, etc.
PROCESS: The compound of formula is prepared by reacting a branched propargyl alcohol or its alkyl ether with e.g. an alkali hypohalogenite or a halogen in the presence of an alkali, and then reacting the resultant monohalide with bromine or iodine.
