Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は誘電体フイルム、特に転写型静電記録
の分野で用いるベルト状の誘電体フイルムで特に
多層構造の誘電体フイルムの接合方法に関する。
従来、静電記録装置に用いられるベルト状誘電
体フイルムは、長尺のシート材をその各々の端部
を接合し、外側に記録層、内側にベース層が配設
されるように形成されている。接合された誘電体
フイルムは、無端状ベルトとなり前記接合部を除
いた記録層に画像を形成する場合は、例えば多針
電極による帯電工程、粉体現像工程、次いで粉体
像を普通紙に転写する工程、粉体像を前記紙に定
着する工程からなる。一方、誘電体フイルム上に
残つた粉体は、ブレードによりクリーニングさ
れ、誘電体フイルムは繰り返し再使用に供される
のである。長尺無端状ベルトからなる誘電体フイ
ルムは、接合部を除いた部分で画像形成が行われ
るようにタイミングがとられるようになつてお
り、接合部での現像粉の汚れや記録体としての帯
電特性の違い等を避けるようにしている。また、
この種の装置で誘電体フイルムを帯電する場合等
においては、長尺無端状ベルトの短手方向から作
用するため前記ベルトの接合部で記録層、抵抗
層、ベース層の各々が接続されなくとも画像形成
には全く関係ない。
従来、複数の異なる組成のフイルム又は物質を
重ね合せて一つの構成体とした誘電体フイルム同
志の接合法として第1図に示すような方法が有
る。これは超音波ホーンと下受台の間に接合しよ
うとする誘電体を重ね合せ、ホーンに超音波を印
加しながら圧力をかけ、熱作用により誘電体の接
合をおこなうものである。しかし、この方法によ
つて接合された接合面は第2図に示す如く、接合
面が段差(厚みに対して30%程度)を生じてしま
う欠点がある。
これを改良する為、発明者は本出願と同日に行
つた特許出願に於て、誘電体と下受台との間に第
3図に示す如く単数又は複数の超音波エネルギー
緩衝層を設けて、超音波エネルギーと圧力を供給
する方法を提案した。
しかし、この方法でも例えばベース層20上に
抵抗層21、記録層22を設けた静電記録体の場
合で記録層10が軟化点の高い物質で構成されて
いるもの(例えば、ポリエチレンテレフタレート
等)では、接合面には僅かに段差が残ることがあ
つた。このような段差が生ずると、例えば転写型
静電記録方式の場合にトナー等がつまりを生じ、
長期間走行させたとき多針電極がよごれる原因と
なつた。
本発明の目的は、前述した欠点を除去した接合
方法を提供することにある。
即ち、本発明は異なる組成のフイルム又は物質
を重ね合せる、例えば静電記録体又は電子写真記
録体等の複合誘電体フイルムの接合方法に於い
て、接合部の段差をなくし平滑面の得られる新た
な接合方法を提供することを目的とする。
本発明の目的は超音波ホーンとこのホーンの圧
力を受ける下受台とからなる超音波接合装置を用
いて、組成の異なる複数の部材を積層してなる誘
電体フイルム(第4図参照)を接合する方法にお
いて、 誘電体の接合すべき部分を熱軟化性物質により
被覆して重ね合わせて下受台の上に載せ、超音波
ホーンにより圧力をかけながら超音波を印加する
ことを特徴とする誘電体フイルムの接合方法によ
り達成することができる。
また、本発明の目的は前記の下受台と、接合す
べき誘電体との間に少なくとも1枚の超音波エネ
ルギー緩衝材を設けた接合方法により一層効果的
に達成することができる。
本発明で誘電体フイルムの接合すべき部分を被
覆する材料は、誘電体フイルムの少なくとも1成
分と同種類の熱軟化性材料が好ましい。
しかし複合誘電体との熱時のなじみが良く、熱
伝導性の良いものであれば他の熱軟化性樹脂でも
用いる事ができる。
本発明の接合方法を転写型静電記録体ベルトを
用いた例について説明する。
ホーンの有効巾20mm、長手方向距離300mmの超
音波ホーンを用いて、第3図に示すように支持体
層及び記録層がポリエチレンテレフタレートフイ
ルム、抵抗層がアクリル系樹脂からなる転写型記
録体(厚さ100μ)について、まず重ね合わせる
端部に被覆を施さずに、2mm重ね合わせて、この
裏面に50μ厚のセロフアンに30μの粘着剤を塗布
したテープを二枚重ねて張り合わせ、圧力
50psi、超音波エネルギー2KW、印加時間2.0秒の
条件で溶着を行つたところ第6図に示すように10
μm程度の段差ができた。
これに対し、第5図に示すように抵抗層材料と
同じアクリル樹脂フイルム(厚さ10μ)で接着す
べき端部を覆い、上記と同じ条件で接合を行つた
ところ(第8図参照)、第7図に示すように段差
が1μ程度と殆んど平滑な面が得られた。
この様にして接合した静電記録体を用いて多針
電極による帯電、粉体現像、普通紙転写、ブレー
ドによるクリーニングをおこなつた。従来の方法
で断面図に被覆をおこなわないで接合した記録体
では多針電極のよごれは5000コピーサイクルから
始まつたが本発明方法により接合した記録体では
よごれは発生せず、トナーよごれに起因する像の
ヌケ等は全く見られなかつた。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1 超音波ホーンとこのホーンの圧力を受ける下
    受台とからなる超音波接合装置を用いて、組成の
    異なる複数の部材を積層してなる誘電体フイルム
    を接合する方法において、 誘電体の接合すべき部分を熱軟化性物質により
    被覆して重ね合わせて下受台の上に載せ、超音波
    ホーンにより圧力をかけながら超音波を印加する
    ことを特徴とする誘電体フイルムの接合方法。 2 下受台と、接合すべき誘電体との間に少なく
    とも1枚の超音波エネルギー緩衝材を設けたこと
    を特徴とする特許請求の範囲第1項に記載の接合
    方法。
