 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Fig. 3 est une coupe suivant 3-3, fige 1.

   Figs.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

      qui portent des vis d'arrêt ±± disposées pour venir en con- tact avec des saillies 26 du bossage 20 afin de limiter le mouvement tournant de la tige 19 dans les deux sens. Une tringle, ou moyen équivalent, est reliée au bras 22 pour actionner l'étrangleur d'une manière connue.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 8>

     Une tige de soupape tubulaire 85, vissée par sa par-

 <Desc/Clms Page number 9>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 10>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 11>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 12>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 13>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 14>

      de plus grand diamètre pour laisser, autour de la tige 122, un espace annulaire 123. Le manchon est pourvu de trous ra- diaux 124 débouchant dans cet espace et situés au-dessus de l'extrémité supérieure du puits 114.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 15>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 16>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 17>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 18>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 19>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 20>

    -CARBURETOR FOR EXPLOSION ENGINES "
The present invention relates to carburettors and more particularly relates to a carburetor of the downdraft type.

   In reversed carburettors, having downdraft, there is, due to eddies, a tendency to return the fuel ejected from the nozzle to the nozzle body, which causes the fuel to trickle down along this nozzle. instead of being thrown into dust in the air stream This is very bad and one of its main objects is to provide a down-suction carburetor in which fuel is ejected from the nozzle.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 or spray in the form of liquid dust in the air stream so as to eliminate the tendency of the air stream to return this fuel to the nozzle body.

   The invention further provides a downdraft carburetor in which the orifices for the fuel and for the intake of air are at the end of the nozzle and in the center of the air passage, so as to ensure easy exit or discharge of fuel from the nozzle, without delay when the choke is open It also provides an improved means of injecting an additional quantity of fuel into the air stream when accelerating and means, together with the accelerating means, to ensure an increased supply of fuel to the nozzle or main nozzle, compared to the normal supply, when operating with the throttle open.
On the drawings it is attached
Fig. 1 is a plan of a carburetor drawn up in accordance with the invention.

   Fig. 2 is a front view of this carburetor, with cutaway and sectional part

   Fig. 6 is a section on 6-6, fig. 4.

   Figs. 7, 8 and 9 are sections along 7-7, 8-8, and 9-9, respectively, fig. 30
The carburetor comprises a lower body section 1 and an upper section suitably secured to the body section by cap screws 3, for example, with a gasket 4 interposed between the two sections. The upper section 2 has an air intake tube and, in this section, is mounted so as to be able to oscillate

 inside, a rod 5 on which is mounted a throttle butterfly, 6, of known type.

   This butterfly has an arcuate opening, 7, normally closed by a plate 8 which is mounted on the rod for an independent rocking movement, and which a wire spring attached at 10 to the butterfly tends to maintain. closed. The plate 8 is provided, on the opposite side of the butterfly 6, with an extension
11 which cooperates with the plate to ensure a substantially hermetic closure of the opening 1 when the plate is in its normal closed position.

   The rod extends beyond section 2 and carries, secured on one of its ends, an arm 12 intended to receive a control rod which can pass through a guide, not shown, secured in a clamp 13 carried by an arm 14 secured to section g. The throttle is actuated in a well known manner and the plate 8 acts, under certain conditions, to admit air through the opening 7, when predetermined degree of partial vacuum is created in the space below the throttle 6.

   A Venturi tube 15 is secured in the body section 1, at a location adjacent to the upper end thereof, for example by means of a screw 16. This Venturi tube widens downwards. , as shown in Fig. 3, and a restrictor 17 is mounted in section 1, at a location adjacent to the lower end thereof, the space between this restrictor and the lower end of the Venturi tube constituting a mixing chamber 18. The throttle is mounted on a rod 19 which, supported so as to be able to oscillate in the bumps and 21 of the section 1 'extends beyond the external face of the boss 20 and carries a control arm 22 suitably tight on it.

  This arm is also used to hold on the rod 19 a collar 23 provided with two arms 24, arranged opposite to each other,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

      which carry stop screws ± ± arranged to come into contact with projections 26 of the boss 20 in order to limit the rotary movement of the rod 19 in both directions. A rod, or equivalent means, is connected to the arm 22 to actuate the throttle in a known manner.

   Associated with the body section 1 is a float chamber 27 which is preferably integral with this section and on which a cover 28 is suitably attached, for example by means of cap screws 29. This cover is extended to the bottom. beyond a wall 30 integral with the upper section 2 and constituting, with the adjacent portion thereof, a box. The wall 30 has, at its lower central part, a boss 31 which is integral with. It and through which passes a head screw, 32, which is screwed into a boss 33 integral with the cover 28, on the underside of the wall. this one.

   The gasket extends between the float chamber gz and its cover 28, so as to ensure a tight seal between them. '
The cover 28 has, on its top, a transverse rib 34 drilled from end to end to provide a channel 35 through which fuel is supplied to the chamber 27. A fuel feed pipe may be connected to either. or the other end of this channel, the other end of which is closed in a suitable manner. In FIG. 7, a fuel feed pipe 36 is shown suitably connected to one end of the channel 35, the other end of which is closed by a screw cap 37. The cover 28 is provided at a location adjacent to the one of its sides, a chamber 38 into which the channel 35 opens.

   A filter 39, in the form of a fine mesh wire mesh, is mounted in the chamber 38, between the bottom thereof and a screw cap 40 which serves in the chamber.

 upper wall of the chamber, with the interposition of a gasket 41 between a collar of this stopper and the top of the wall of the chamber. The filter extends around a valve chapel 42 screwed into the bottom of the chamber 38 and rising into this chamber This provides, inside the chamber, a space to collect the deposit around the upper extension of the chamber. chapel 42 and prevent this deposit from passing into the float chamber. A float 43 pivots, at 44, on a finger 45 descending from the cover 28.

  An arm ± ± of this float is in contact with the lower end of a valve 47 working in the chapel 42.

   The float and the valve acting to maintain a substantially constant level of the fuel in chamber 27.

   The boss 21 is extended outwards, away from the section 1, in the float chamber 27 to form a cylindrical projection 46a provided with a fuel passage 47a which opens, at its internal end, into a well 48 extending through the boss 21, at an inclination from bottom to top and outward in relation to the section of the carburetor o A fuel nozzle, or main jet, 49 is mounted in the upper portion of the well 48 which has a reduced diameter at 49a. This nozzle comprises a body 50, of flattened rectangular section, and a cylindrical base, 51, which fits into the upper portion of reduced diameter, 49A, of the hollow, the lower portion of which constitutes the well 48.

   The upper portion of this hole, above the base 51 of the nozzle, is equal in diameter to the greatest width of the body of the nozzle, at 'and the Venturi tube has a slot extending from its lower end and coinciding with hole 52 in section 1.

   A ring 53, through which is suitably

 blet for example by means of screw caps 68. The nozzle is provided, at its upper end, with two side jets or nozzles proper, which open directly into the fuel passage 64 and extend laterally beyond the 'nozzle, on opposite sides thereof and which are disposed in the center of the Venturi tube 15 and adjacent to the throat thereof.

   An air intake chimney 70 is suitably secured, by screwing for example, in the upper end of the nozzle 49 and opens directly into the upper end of the air passage 5. This chimney has, in its upper end, a restricted air inlet 71.

   The lower end of the air passage 65 is suitably closed, by means of a plug 72 for example, and a lumen 73, extending from the passage 65, a short distance above the lower end of the air passage. this opens into an ANNULAR channel 74 extending around the base 51 of the nozzle * In normal carburetor operation, air enters the passage 65 and passes through the holes 67, in the fuel stream, the fuel being injected into the Venturi tube 15 through the nozzles 69 due to the draw, or suction effect, exerted by the downward air stream. The fuel is injected from the nozzle, on opposite sides of it,

   to a liquid dust which enters directly into the main air stream and is projected sufficiently beyond the nozzle body to prevent fuel from being returned to it by eddies around it This eliminates the possibility that instead of being ejected from the nozzle into the main air stream as liquid dust, fuel trickles down this nozzle as occurs in down-suction carburettors not fitted with

 <Desc / Clms Page number 8>

 means for ejecting fuel well beyond and laterally from the nozzle body.

   Metering orifice 63, although sufficient to supply fuel to the main nozzle or nozzle in ordinary carburettor operation, does not ensure a sufficient supply of fuel when operating with the throttle open wide, or for acceleration.

     A means has therefore been provided for injecting an additional supply of fuel into the air stream when accelerating, as well as a means by which the supply of fuel to the well 48 is increased when operating with the choke. open wide.

   As regards first of all the accelerating means, the float chamber 27 is provided, on one of its sides and in a place adjacent to the body 1 of the carburetor, with an extension 27 .... 0 A threaded boss 75 rises from the bottom 76 of this extension 27a and opens into an inclined passage 78 (FIG. 6) made in the bottom of said extension and opens into a vertical passage existing in the body section 1 of the carburetor. An auxiliary nozzle 80 (figs. 5 and 6) is screwed into the wall of this section 1 and extends through an opening existing in the Venturi tube 15, the internal end of this nozzle extending a short distance into it. Venturi tube, at the top of the latter, and being provided with a restricted discharge port 81.

   This nozzle is introduced through a boss 82 of the body section 1, which boss is suitably drilled for this purpose and then closed with a screw cap 83. The passage 79 is closed, above the screw cap. 83, by means of a screw cap 84 (fig. 5) or in any other way.

     A tubular valve stem 85, screwed by its part

 <Desc / Clms Page number 9>

 lower tie, of reduced diameter and threaded 85a in the boss 75, has at its upper end a head 86, the lower portion of which is frustoconical and which is provided with fuel inlet openings 87, extending radially and opening into the hollow 88 of the rod at a location adjacent to the upper end thereof.

   A piston 89 is mounted so as to be able to slide on the rod 85 by means of an internal collar for 90. The head of this piston has a central depression intended to receive the lower portion of the head 86. when the piston is raised, this piston serving, at this moment, to close the openings 87. The piston 89 is normally held up, to close these openings 87, by a coil spring 91 surrounding the collar 90 of the piston and placed between the head of this piston. and the bottom 76, the lower portion of this spring being mounted around the boss 75.

   The piston 89 works freely in a cylinder 92 which is mounted to slide around the piston, the latter being provided with grooves 93 which serve to delay, to a certain extent, the passage of fuel from the cylinder above the piston, as well as and retain particles of foreign matter which would otherwise enter the cylinder and pass from it into the fuel stream.

   Piston 92 is closed at its upper end and open at its lower end, as shown, and is connected by a ball joint 93 to the lower end of a rod 94, the upper end of which is hinged. a suitable manner, for example by means of a finger arranged at right angles, 95 obtained by bending the rod, at one end of a balance 96 which pivots, at an intermediate point of its length, at 97, on a post 98 rising from cover 28. A pin 99 is inserted through the finger 95 on the side of the balanoier 96 which is opposite to that where the rod 94 is located, to prevent displacement.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 10>

 accidental cement of the finger.

   Rod 94 rises through an opening 100 in cover 28 and, as will be seen more clearly in Figs. 3 and 4, the balance% and the parts associated with it are arranged inside the box 30 which is preferably provided with an air intake hole 101 through which, and the opening 100. air can enter the float chamber above the fuel level in the latter. Note, with particular reference to figs. 4 and 6, which the cover 28 has, around the opening 100.

   a depression 102 constituting, in effect, a bowl which returns to the float chamber any fuel which might tend to splash therefrom through the opening 100.

   The boss 21 of the body section 1 is provided with an extension 103 (Figs. 2 and 4) which is suitably drilled and tapped, from its upper face, to receive the lower end of a cylinder. 104 which is screwed into the socket which is thus offered to it. This cylinder is disposed outside the float chamber and its upper end fits into a cap 105 which itself fits into a recess provided in the underside of the cover 28, the latter extending for this purpose beyond the adjacent wall of the float chamber and over cylinder 104. A piston 106, in the form of a long cylinder open at its lower end, slides into cylinder 104.

   This piston is closed at the top and is connected by a spherical joint 107 to the lower end of a rod 108, the upper end of which is connected to the other end of the balance 96 in the same manner as the rod 94 (fig. 4). The piston 106 is pushed back upwards by a coil spring
1 109 disposed inside this piston and confined between the former

 <Desc / Clms Page number 11>

 upper end thereof and a cup 110 in which the lower end of the spring rests and which itself rests around an adjustable screw 111 which is screwed from bottom to top through the extension 103 of the boss 21.

   This screw is held in position by a lock nut 112 and offers an adjustable means of positively limiting the downward movement of the piston 106.

   An air passage 113 descends from the sleeve where the lower end of the cylinder 104 is received and opens, via its lower end, into the body section 1 at a point adjacent to the restrictor 17 and below it. Ci, as it is more clearly represented in fig. 5. The cup 110 is provided at its bottom with an opening which coincides with the upper end of the passage 113, as shown in FIG. 9. The interior of piston 106 is thus connected to the air passage below the throttle and is subjected to the vacuum or suction prevailing on the underside of the latter.

   With the throttle partially open, the vacuum prevailing below this throttle will be appreciably greater than that prevailing above the throttle and a partial vacuum will be created inside the piston 106.

  This causes the piston to descend in antagonism to the expansive force of the spring 109 and compresses the latter. When the piston descends in this way, the cylinder 21 of the acceleration pump moves upwards, thus creating a partial vacuum in the existing space, in this cylinder, above the piston 89, in which space the fuel then arrives from the float chamber. The space existing inside the cylinder .98 of the acceleration pump is filled with fuel and vapors generated by evaporation of the latter, due to the creation of the partial vacuum in question and the heating. fuel due to the use of the carburetor.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 12>

   When the choke is opened suddenly, for acceleration, the suction or depression below the choke is instantly reduced and the reaction of the spring
109 serves to quickly raise the piston 106 and, through the intermediary of the balance 96, to lower the cylinder 92.

   It follows that a pressure is exerted on the upper face of the piston 89, which causes the latter to descend in antagonism to the action of the spring 91, so as to uncover the slots 87. As soon as these- It is found that a charge of pressurized fuel is injected through passages 8 and 79 and, through nozzle 80, into the constricted or constricted portion of the Venturi tube.

   This provides an additional, instantly usable supply of fuel which is projected into the air stream when accelerating. Although the spring 109 tends to raise the piston 126 when the vacuum or suction is reduced, due to the opening of the choke, the resistance of the spring 91 and the fuel in the upper portion of the pump cylinder 92 will retard the expansion of the spring 109 to some extent, so that the injection of fuel by the nozzle 80 will continue for an appreciable time after the opening of the throttle, that is to say after the movement of the latter in the direction corresponding to its opening, to accelerate. This is desirable because it ensures an ample supply of fuel for acceleration.

   The closer the position to which the throttle is brought to its fully open position, the greater the decrease in the suction effect below this throttle, and consequently. the more the upward movement of the piston 106 under the action of the spring-109 will be correspondingly increased, with the result that fuel will be ejected from the nozzle 80 for, - a longer period of time in a corresponding manner. - layered. -,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 13>

   This ensures that an ample supply of fuel is available for acceleration under all conditions.

   Although the measuring orifice 63 of the plug 62 provides an ample supply of fuel to the nozzle 49 under ordinary operating conditions, this orifice is not large enough to supply fuel to the nozzle in the amount required. the most efficient operation when running at high speed with the throttle fully open, The Applicant has therefore provided what it calls an economizer by which an additional quantity of fuel is supplied to the main nozzle or nozzle 49 when the choke is fully open, or substantially wide. this additional supply being automatically interrupted when walking at medium or low speeds.

   In the boss 21 there is provided for this purpose, see more particularly Figs 3 and 4, a well 114 which is adjacent to the well 48 and whose lower end is closed by a plug 114a having a portion of reduced diameter, 115 , which forms with the wall surrounding the well 114 an annular channel 116. This channel communicates with the well 48 by a slot 117 passing through the wall which exists between the two wells. The plug 114a is pierced with a diametral hole 118 which, passing through the portion of reduced diameter * 15 and opening into the channel 116, cuts an axial hole 19 made in the plug and enlarged at its upper part to receive a bucket 120 having an orifice 120a.

   A sleeve 121 suitably secured in the end of the well 114, by screwing for example "is provided with a hub which extends along its axis and in the upper part of which a valve stem 122 can slide, while its lower part is

 <Desc / Clms Page number 14>

      of larger diameter to leave, around the rod 122, an annular space 123. The sleeve is provided with radial holes 124 opening into this space and located above the upper end of the well 114.

   The sleeve is formed, at its lower end, so as to provide a seat for a valve 125 carried by the lower end of the rod 122 and being able to advantageously be integral therewith. This valve is normally held up, that is to say closed, by a coil spring 126 mounted around the rod 122 and confined between the upper end of the sleeve 121 and a collar 127 suitably secured to the valve. stem, near the upper end of it.

   A plunger 128, sliding through a bearing 129 in a boss 130 hanging from the lid 28 of the float chamber, has at its upper end a rounded head 131 adjacent to that of the arms of the balance wheel 98 to which the cylinder 92 of the pump d acceleration is connected and in the vertical plane of this arm., so as to be pushed up and down by it under certain conditions. Under normal operating conditions, with the choke 17 partly open, the parts occupy them. -positions relating to fig. 4, the pendulum 26.'tant arranged so as not to be, then, in contact with the head 131 of the plunger 128.

  When running with the throttle fully open, spring 109 fully lifts piston 106, causing rocker arm 96 to swing into position to contact plunger 128 and lower plunger 128 downward. ci which in turn pushes valve 125 away from its seat. This allows the supply, through the float chamber to well 48, of an additional quantity of fuel sufficient to ensure good operation with the throttle open fully open. Note that the cup 120, which is advantageously made of thin sheet metal, has a restricted orifice 120a which is very much

 <Desc / Clms Page number 15>

 shorter in relation to its diameter, than the orifice 63 of the plug 62.

   The discharge coefficient of orifice 120a is quite different from that of orifice 63 and these two orifices, having different discharge coefficients, cooperate to ensure the desired supply of fuel to the nozzle 49. when the choke is fully open, or substantially so.

   An idle passage 132 (pins 2, 5 and 9) is provided in the body section 1 and opens, at its lower end, into a hole 133 which extends from the outer end of a boss ± the outer end of which is closed in a suitable manner, for example by means of a stopper. screw 135. Upper and lower conduits 136 and 137, respectively, extend from the hole 133 and open into the passage of the body 1, these conduits being arranged so that, when the choke is closed, the upper duct 136 sits above and adjacent to this choke, while lower duct 137 sits below the choke.

   The upper end of the passage 132 is connected, by a short transverse passage 138 (fig 2) and openings 139a. To an axial hole 139 starting from the lower end of a plug at via 140 which screws into the extremity. - upper end of a passage 141 drilled in a rib 142 of the body section 1, a rib which is an integral part of a rib 143 in which the passage 132 is drilled The stopper 140 carries a tube 144 which descends inside from passage 141, to a point adjacent to the lower end thereof, and which, closed at its lower end, at 145.

   is provided with a fuel inlet port 1460 The lower end of the passage 141 is connected by an inclined passage 147 (pin 9) to the existing annular space 74

 <Desc / Clms Page number 16>

   around the base 51 of the nozzle 49. The passage 138 is drilled from the outer end of a boss 148 integral with the rib 143. A needle 149 is screwed into the outer end of this boss and controls communication between the passage 138 and an air re-entry hole or lumen 150 which opens into a space 151 surrounding the tip of the needle.

  A coil spring 152, mounted around the needle shank and confined between the needle head and boss 148, holds the needle in the desired setting position * When running at low speeds, with the 'Throttle 17 almost closed, fuel is sucked from both conduits 136 and 137. when running empty, with the throttle completely closed, as in fig. 5, air passes through conduit 136 and the combustible mixture is drawn through conduit 137. As the regulators open, the suction effect 137.

   As the choke opens, the suction effect on conduits 136 and 137 decreases while the suction effect on the main nozzle increases, so that the supply of fuel through the gear shift vacuum and conduits 136 and 137 decrease as the main nozzle, or nozzle, is brought into action, no fuel being drawn from said conduits in normal carburetor operation, that is to say except when we walk at low speed or empty.

  In idle jet operation, when the flow of fuel has been established through passage 132 and associated passages, at conduits 136 and 137, this flow would tend to continue, due to a siphoning action. , if a means was not provided to prevent this. In this regard, the needle 149 and the slot 150 associated with it not only serve to ensure an air intake for the passage of idling, but also provide

 <Desc / Clms Page number 17>

 a way to admit air to. this passage, so as to prevent the siphoning action in question after the throttle has been brought out of its closed, or substantially closed, position.

   Referring more particularly to FIG. 3, it will be noted that the internal surface of the body section of the carburetor is bevelled from top to bottom and from outside inwards, at its upper end, at 153, this bevelled part forming an extension of the upper portion, entry 154 . of the Venturi tube 15.

   This is advantageous as providing a long entry to the Venturi tube, which is desirable, while allowing the Venturi tube itself to be relatively thin. It will also be noted that the take-up chimney 70 extends well beyond. above the inlet of the Venturi tube, so as to be on the pressure side thereof, in order to ensure the desired supply of air to the air camal 65 of the nozzle 490 This nozzle, as this has been said previously and as clearly shown in Figs. 5 and 8, is of substantially flat rectangular section and, as has been said, the Venturi tube 15 is slit, from its lower end, to fit exactly around the nozzle.

   This is advantageous in that it facilitates assembly and also has the great advantage of ensuring that the nozzle is located exactly in position and is securely held in the desired position. This is important because the nozzle must be held in the center of the Venturi tube.

   It should be particularly noted that the upper section 2 is separate from the cover 28 of the float chamber and from the lower section, or body, 1 of the carburetor so that, by removing the screw µ ± and the screws which securing section to section 19 all of the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 18>

 upper section, which reveals the balance 96 and its associated parts and thus makes them easily accessible.

   It also gives easy access to the Venturi tube as well as the main nozzle or nozzle and associated parts. Particularly advantageous is the arrangement of cylinder 104 and associated parts, as well as the acceleration pump and associated parts, on opposite sides of the main nozzle or nozzle and at locations adjacent thereto. in that it offers a compact layout which can be easily produced at a relatively low cost, while also providing a relatively space-saving carburetor From a practical standpoint, this is an important consideration. In this regard, the arrangement of the balance 96, to which the cylinder 92 and the piston 106 are connected, provides a simple and efficient means of operating the acceleration pump and the economizer valve.

     It will also be noted that the screw 111, which regulates the downward movement of the piston la.6 and, therefore, the flow rate of the acceleration pump, is adjustable independently of the operation of the economizer valve. The adjustment of the acceleration pump therefore does not in any way affect the economizer which is brought into play automatically when running with the throttle open, as described above.

   Note that the rocker 6, as well as the plunger 128 are carried by the float chamber cover 28 and that the piston 106 and the cylinder can be moved upwards with the cover 28. By removing the section upper 2, it is possible to remove float chamber cover 28 and rocker 96 and associated parts, as well as plunger 128, as one. alone

 <Desc / Clms Page number 19>

This gives quick access to parts of the acceleration pump as well as to the economiser and cylinder.
104, as well as to the parts associated therewith, for cleaning, repairs, etc ... which is very advantageous.

   The Applicant considers the application of tube 54 and the relationship of this tube and the parts associated with it to be particularly advantageous. It will be noted from FIG. 3 that the tube descends into the well 48 to a short distance from the bottom of the latter and that the upper portion of the passage 47a substantially coincides with the underside of the ring 53. When the engine has been running for an appreciable time, the carburetor becomes heated, with the result that the fuel is heated. This creates gases which tend to form bubbles in the fuel.

  If these bubbles are allowed to collect, as in a pocket, they will unite and form an appreciable mass of Vo- moon gas, when this mass of gas enters the nozzle nozzle, the flow of fuel through it is interrupted, which is very bad. Likewise, when the carburetor is heated and the engine is stopped, the fuel may come out bubbling through the nozzle which , for obvious reasons, is also a serious drawback which is avoided by the construction according to this invention. Any gas bubbles which enter well 48 rise up along tube 54 and pass through holes 54a entering the fuel stream and thus being removed as they form.

   In this regard, the individual gas bubbles formed are so small that they do not adversely affect the supply of the fuel nozzle to the nozzle, and by preventing any build-up of these bubbles any build-up is eliminated.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 20>

 possibility. that the flow of fuel is thereby hampered.

   Tube 54 provides an additional column of fuel in the nozzle and tube which is sufficient to prevent fuel from bubbling out of the well.
48 through nozzle 49. In this manner, a proper supply of fuel to the nozzle is ensured at all times and is prevented from bubbling out of the nozzle.
