Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Schwefelfarbstoffes. Es wurde gefunden, dass das bisanhin unbekannte Indophenol aus o-Tolylphenyl- amin, herstellbar zum Beispiel durch Kon densation von o-Tolylphenylamin mit Nitroso- phenol in Schwefelsäure, beim Erhitzen mit Alkalipolysulfiden einen neuen Schwefel farbstoff liefert. Dieser bildet ein blaues Pulver und färbt Baumwolle im Schwefel natriumbade hervorragend wasch- und sei fenkochecht lebhaft blau.
Beispiel: <B>37,6</B> Teile des Leukoderivates des Indophe- nols aus o-Tolylphenylamin und Nitrosophenol werden in eine Polysulfidlösung, hergestellt aus 72 Teilen kristallisiertem Schwefel natrium und 43 Teilen Schwefel, unter Rüh ren eingetragen, hierauf bis zum Siedepunkt 125 C eingekocht und dann am rück fliessenden Kühler während 12 bis 20 Stun- den gekocht. Aus der mit Wasser verdünn ten Schmelze kann der Farbstoff durch Aus säuern oder Ausblasen mit Luft abgeschieden werden.
Derselbe Farbstoff entsteht, wenn man vom entsprechenden Indophenol ausgeht, oder wenn man die Schwefelung in Gegen wart von Alkohol durchführt.

It has been found that the hitherto unknown indophenol from o-tolylphenylamine, which can be prepared, for example, by condensation of o-tolylphenylamine with nitrosophenol in sulfuric acid, provides a new sulfur dye when heated with alkali metal polysulfides. This forms a blue powder and dyes cotton in a sulfur-sodium bath, which is extremely washable and lively blue, which is resistant to cooking.
Example: 37.6 parts of the leuco derivative of indophenol from o-tolylphenylamine and nitrosophenol are added with stirring to a polysulphide solution made from 72 parts of crystallized sodium sulphide and 43 parts of sulfur, up to Boiling point 125 C and then boiled on the back-flowing cooler for 12 to 20 hours. The dye can be removed from the melt diluted with water by acidifying it or blowing it out with air.
The same dye is produced if you start from the corresponding indophenol, or if you carry out the sulphurisation in the presence of alcohol.
