技术领域
总的来说,本发明涉及聚酯和聚酯容器,特别涉及具有降低的摩擦系数和改进的透明度的聚酯和聚酯容器。
背景技术
在输送各种聚酯容器时,存在着由于容器表面接触造成过多静磨擦力而产生的问题。该过量摩擦力会导致“生产线”或“灌装线”的中断,这在经济上是不希望的。问题出现在聚酯聚合物被成型为预制品或经拉伸吹制为各种类型的容器之后。这些容器有时被直接输送到堆放站,然后运到灌装厂或被输送到同一工厂中的标签贴和灌装线上。在碳酸软饮料(“CSD”)业中,由于拉伸吹塑件的输送和灌装线的高速度,这一问题更为显著。在聚酯容器行业的其它部门,当所述容器在来自传送过程的拥挤区的压力下输送的情况下也会遇到这一问题。
在容器预制品的吹塑或注塑过程中,预制品被装入能容纳1000只以上预制品的大箱(gaylord箱)中。因为高摩擦系数(“ COF”)常见于聚酯表面之间,所述预制品则易于相互在顶端堆叠,从箱侧看起来形成圆锥形。这种堆积造成装入箱中的预制品数量减少且因此造成每个预制品的运输费用更高。所述预制品表面间的强大摩擦力还会在将预制品向进料轨道上装载时引起进料舱的阻塞。类似地,由于这一摩擦力在进料轨道上也会发生阻塞。
直壁容器,如用于碳酸软饮料(“CSD”)业中的两升瓶具有非常光滑的表面,这使在相邻的两个瓶子间发生接触的表面积最大化。因为聚酯容器如PET(PET的静态COF>1.0)所固有的高COF,所述容器在吹制后或在灌装过程中的传送线上相互牵绊而翻倒或干脆停止移动。此类翻倒和停止显然会在传送或灌装过程中引起人们所不希望的中断。
在传送过程中高COF阻止了多排传送线上相邻容器的移动(翻转或滑倒)。当传送线改变方向时,有时达90°之多,容器将相互牵绊,或是直立并使进料停止或是翻倒并使传送线停下来。在任一情况下,均需要有人全天候监拉这些问题区域以保证传送线运行。因此,具有低静态COF的容器在传送过程中能够藉其它容器而滑动或转动,这将使停车时间和对过程实施连续监控的人员需要减至最少或完全消除。这些问题都与聚酯的不能令人接受的COF有关。
现有技术涉及了降低聚酯COF的方法。一个方法涉及加入防粘连剂,如硅石,滑石,碳酸钙,硬脂酸钙和其它无机化合物。JP 9272191公开了一种多层片材,其含有惰性颗粒(10-5000ppm,0.5-30微米尺寸),包括硅石和滑石,用以改善该片材及其制品的滑爽性能,抗刮擦性能,切割性能和粘结性能。US 5,840,419公开了多层聚烯烃薄膜,其采用交联的聚硅氧烷,结合以无机防粘连剂,如滑石以降低COF,滑石的用量是500-5000ppm,颗粒尺寸为1-6微米。此二参考文献均未公开拉伸吹塑容器。US 6,323,271公开了聚酯树脂,其含有的硅石选自火成二氧化硅,胶态硅石和硅石珠粒,与使用相同树脂而未用硅石的容器相比,这可用于制造降低了粘着性的容器。US 5,258,161公开的聚烯烃薄膜含有0.05wt%-3wt%的用作防粘连剂的滑石。US5,908,890公开的聚合物薄膜所包含的聚烯烃基体中含有低于约1wt%的浮石防粘连剂。
US 5,830,544公开的聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯(“PET”)瓶,由于加入了浓度为10-100ppm的无定形态硅石而具有降低的粘着性。采用无定形态硅石以外的添加剂和改进所述含抗粘结添加剂的瓶的透明度的方法尚未公开。日本专利申请平成2-307117公开了防粘连剂的浓度及其颗粒尺寸对膜性能如浊度和COF的最优化方案。该参考文献既未公开容器如塑料瓶,也未公开在加工前对防粘连剂进行干燥。
日本专利申请平成4-180957公开了单-和多-层片材和由含100-10,000ppm,颗粒尺寸<10微米的滑石的PET形成的热成型模塑制品。适合的热成型容器包括具有良好透明度的发泡包装物。诸如塑料瓶的容器,在加工前干燥防粘连剂的益处以及脂肪酸束缚剂(tether)的使用尚未公开。
现有技术涉及一种聚酯薄膜,其中掺入了各种元机颗粒以改进结晶度和滑爽性能。JP 7238211公开了磁带;JP 6065478公开了磁带、像片、包装薄膜;JP 5104621公开了热成型片材;JP 4183718公开了用于磁带、照像软片、电绝缘薄膜的基材薄膜,用于金纱的基层材料,和包装材料;JP 4180957公开了具有良好的滑爽性、堆垛性能和良好透明度的PET w/滑石(材料)。
参考的现有技术没有公开摩擦系数大大低于1.0的聚酯或聚酯容器,特别是含有滑石作为防粘连剂的聚酯或聚酯容器。因此,需要具有降低的COF的新型和改进的聚酯和聚酯容器,特别是具有降低了COF的高透明度(低浊度)容器。
发明内容
因此,本发明的一个目的是提供具有降低的摩擦系数和可接受的透明度的聚酯和聚酯容器。
本发明的另一个目的是提供具有降低的摩擦系数和提高的透明度的聚酯和聚酯容器。
本发明的另外一个目的是提供防粘连剂,其用于生产具有可接受的和提高的透明度的聚酯和聚酯容器。
本发明的另一个目的是提供一种用于生产聚酯和聚酯容器的防粘连剂。
这些以及其它的目的是通过使用含水约20-约300ppm的干燥滑石或是经脂肪酸束缚的滑石来降低聚酯和聚酯容器的摩擦系数来实现的。使用这些滑石的结果是聚酯和聚酯容器的摩擦系数<约1且透明度为浊度值<约4%。这样的聚酯和聚酯容器可用来包装各种食品和饮料。
本发明其它的和进一步的目的、特点和优点对本领域的技术人员而言是显而易见的。

具体实施方式
本文使用的术语“重量百分数”及其缩写形式“wt%”指的是基于加入了所有成份的最终形式的聚酯组合物总重量的重量百分数。
本文使用的术语“容器”包括容器和用于制造容器的预制品。
在一个方面,本发明提供了具有降低的摩擦系数(“COF”)和可接受的透明度的聚酯和聚酯容器。降低的COF是这样获得的:向聚酯中加入滑石-一种化学式为Mg3Si4O10(OH)2的水合硅酸镁。所述滑石,或防粘连剂在不对聚酯或聚酯容器的透明度造成负面影响的情况下产生了可以降低所述聚酯COF的表面粗糙度。
用于本发明的滑石包含约62wt%的SiO2和约31%MgO,密度为约2.7克/厘米3(g/cc),平均颗粒尺寸为约0.05-约50微米,优选为约0.1-约20微米,最优选为约0.2-约10微米。合用的滑石可从数个来源商购,包括以Polar Talc 9107或9103(用或不用脂肪酸束缚)的商品名从Polar Minerals,Inc.,2005 Newpoint Place Parkway,Lawrenceville,GA 30043购得。
在加入聚酯中以前,对滑石进行干燥使含水量为约20-约300ppm,优选为约50-约250ppm。采用“经干燥的滑石”对本发明的这一方面而言是至关重要的,因为这样生产的聚酯最大程度降低了COF并使对透明度和浊度的不利影响最小化。可以用常规方法干燥滑石,如以技术人员公知的条件使用干燥器或烘箱。如果滑石未被干燥,则需要加入更多的滑石。如果滑石未被干燥,为降低特定量的摩擦力所得到的浊度将会增加。
本发明的聚酯中干燥滑石的浓度为约0.001-约0.1wt%。因为增加滑石浓度会使容器透明度降低,则优选的浓度为约0.001-约0.05wt%,最优选为约0.005-约0.025wt%。
根据本发明的这一方面制得的聚酯和聚酯容器的摩擦系数为约0.01-约1.0。
根据本发明的这一方面制得的聚酯和聚酯容器具有可接受透明度,其浊度值为约0.1-约4%,优选为约0.1-约3%。
其它为人所熟知用于生产聚酯和聚酯容器的防粘连剂,具有与滑石相似的性能,例如无定形态硅石,硫酸钡,硬脂酸锌,磷酸钙以及它们的混合物,当干燥至含水约20-约300ppm时在本发明中作用相当。
在另一个方面中,本发明提供了具有降低的摩擦系数(“COF”)和提高的透明度的聚酯和聚酯容器。聚酯和聚酯容器的透明度是通过用脂肪酸处理滑石以在滑石上加上束缚(tether)(束缚的滑石)来提高的。
用于本发明的脂肪酸能与聚酯相容并在制造聚酯和聚酯容器选用的聚合和/或加工条件下保持热稳定。优选的脂肪酸选自支化的硬脂酸,C6-C20饱和和不饱和的、线型或支化的脂肪酸。最优选的脂肪酸为亚油酸,软脂酸,油酸,亚油酸和棕榈油酸(palmolenic acid)。
用于制备束缚滑石的滑石是可商购的“未干燥滑石”或按本文所描述制备的“干燥滑石”。滑石经技术人员所熟知的常规方法用脂肪酸束缚。此类经脂肪酸束缚的滑石也可从数个来源商购,包括PolarMinerals,InC.,2005 Newpoint Place Parkway,Lawrenceville,GA 30043。
虽然不受理论的限制,但人们相信脂肪酸使滑石与聚酯更为相容并通过聚合物取向而减少了空隙。空隙是由于聚酯与滑石在介面处不相容而引起的。当容器被拉伸时,如果聚酯与滑石颗粒不相容,则颗粒会脱出来而产生空隙。有机脂肪酸束缚剂将无机滑石颗粒和聚酯联结起来。
本发明的聚酯中经束缚的滑石的浓度为约0.001-约0.1wt%。因为通常需要较少的束缚滑石,所以优选的浓度为约0.001-约0.04wt%,最优选为约0.005-约0.020wt%。
根据本发明的这一方面制得的聚酯和聚酯容器的摩擦系数为约0.1-约1.0。
根据本发明的的这一方面制得的聚酯和聚酯容器具有提高的透明度,其浊度值为约0.1-约3%,优选为约0.1-约2%。
经束缚的滑石是在生产具有降低的摩擦系数和提高的透明度的聚酯和聚酯容器的生产过程中加入的。
所述滑石和经束缚的滑石可以在聚合过程中加入聚酯中或者可以将其与聚酯在加工前预混以形成浓缩料。然后将该浓缩料与原始的聚酯相混合以获得所需的滑石或束缚滑石的浓度。干燥滑石与束缚滑石(束缚滑石用干燥或未干燥滑石制得)的混合物是本发明的实施方案。
本发明的聚酯可以采用技术人员熟知的方法制得。合用的聚酯可以通过常规方式以这样的反应制备:含2-40个碳原子的二元羧酸与多元醇如含2-约20个碳原子的二元醇(酚)反应。制备聚酯的方法,包括生产条件,催化剂,螯合剂,猝灭剂和添加剂均是技术人员已知的。聚酯材料的制备以及将聚酯与其它聚合物材料相结合的方法提供在下列书籍中:W.R.Sorenson和T.W.Campbell的《高分子化学制备方法》(Interscience Publishers,New York 1968及后序版本)和《高分子科学与工程百科全书第二版》,H.F.Ma rk等人著,(JohnWiley & Sons,New York 1985),特别是第12卷的1-290页(聚酯通论)以及描述树脂生产工艺的第259-274页。
用于制备所述聚酯的二元羧酸是含有2-20个碳原子的烷基二元羧酸或含有8-16个碳原子的芳基或烷基取代的芳基二元羧酸。另外,含有4-20个碳原子的烷基二元羧酸二酯或含有10-20个碳原子的烷基取代的芳基二元羧酸二酯可替代二元羧酸使用。优选含有2-8个碳原子的多元醇或二醇,最优选乙二醇。含有4-12个碳原子的二醇的醚可用来替代二醇。
对苯二酸酯聚酯由对苯二甲酸二甲酯或对苯二甲酸与乙二醇制备或者由对苯二甲酸二甲酯或对苯二甲酸与1,4-环己二醇制备。合用的二元羧酸包括对苯二甲酸、间苯二甲酸、丙二酸、丁二酸、戊二酸、己二酸、辛二酸、癸二酸、马来酸和富马酸,所有这些都是熟知的二元羧酸,或使用它们的混合物来生产共聚多酯。除乙二醇和1,4-环己二醇之外,合用的二醇包括丙二醇、1,3-丙二醇、丙三醇、1,2-丁二醇、1,4-丁二醇、季戊四醇、新戊二醇,相似的二元醇及它们的混合物。这些化合物和采用这些化合物制备聚酯和共聚酯的方法在本领域内是熟知的。
聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯(和其它的聚酯如其它的对苯二甲酸酯,间苯二甲酸酯和对苯二甲酸酯-间苯二甲酸酯的混合聚酯)的常规生产包括使对苯二甲酸或对苯二甲酸二甲酯与乙二醇在约200℃-约250℃的温度下反应以形成单体和水(或甲醇)。因为反应是可逆的,所以要连续地除去水(或甲醇)来驱动反应以产生单体。接下来,单体经缩聚反应形成聚合物。在对苯二甲酸或对苯二甲酸二甲酯与乙二醇的反应过程中,仅管存在催化剂有利于提高反应速率但这并不是必须的。通常,在缩聚反应过程中,优选使用催化剂,例如锑化合物或其它本领域技术人员已知的催化剂。在制备瓶预制品和由该预制品生产塑料瓶时,希望所生产的是最洁净、最透明的聚合物。通常,使用的添加剂越少,所生产的聚合物就越透明。相反,有时需要制造着色的塑料瓶,这意味着瓶预制品也可能是着色的。因此,各种颜料,染料,填料和其它本领域技术人员已知的物质可以加入聚合物,通常是在共聚反应过程当中或接近该反应结束时加入。所用的具体添加剂和在反应过程中加入的时间点为本领域内已知的,不构成本发明的一部分。任何常规体系均可采用并且本领域的技术人员能够在各种添加剂的添加体系中为所希望的结果做出最佳选择。
本发明的聚酯容器可以采用熟知的制造聚酯容器的方法来制得。这样的方法包括注射拉抻吹塑和挤出吹塑。优选地,此类容器是采用技术人员熟知的常规吹塑成型法制得的瓶。
在另一方面,本发明提供了可用于生产聚酯和聚酯容器的防粘连剂,其形式是被干燥至含水约20-300ppm的滑石。所述滑石可以经任何常规方法处理以除去水分,但优选在常规烘箱中干燥。在生产过程中将滑石加入聚酯中以制造出具有降低的摩擦系数和可接受的透明度的聚酯和聚酯容器。
在另一方面,本发明提供了可用于生产聚酯和聚酯容器的防粘连剂,其形式是干燥的滑石,该滑石已经脂肪酸处理生成为束缚滑石。
合用于本发明的聚酯在本领域内是熟知的并通常由这样的重复单元形成,所述重复单元包括对苯二甲酸,对苯二甲酸二甲酯,间苯二甲酸,间苯二甲酸二甲酯,二甲基-2,6-萘二甲酸酯,2,6-萘二甲酸,乙二醇,二甘醇,1,4-环己烷-二甲醇,1,4-二丁醇及它们的混合物。
聚酯中的二元羧酸组分可任选地用最多约15摩尔百分比的一种或多种不同的二元羧酸改性。这些另外的二元羧酸包括优选含有8-14个碳原子的芳族二元羧酸,优选含有4-12个碳原子的脂肪族二元羧酸,或优选含有8-12个碳原子的环状脂肪族二元羧酸。与对苯二甲酸一同使用的二元羧酸的例子是:邻苯二甲酸,间苯二甲酸,2,6-萘二甲酸,环己烷二甲酸,环己烷二乙酸,二苯基-4,4’-二甲酸,丁二酸,戊二酸,己二醇,壬二酸,癸二酸,和它们的混合物等等。
另外,所述的二元醇组分任选可以用至多约15个摩尔百分数的一种或多种不是乙二醇的不同二元醇来改性。这些另外的二元醇包括优选含有6-20个碳原子的环状脂肪族二醇或优选含有3-20个碳原子的脂肪族二醇。这些二醇的例子包括:二甘醇、三甘醇,1,4-环己烷二甲醇,1,3-丙二醇,1,4-丁二醇,1,5-戊二醇,1,6-己二醇,3-甲基-2,4-戊二醇,2-甲基-1,4-戊二醇,2,2,4-三甲基1,3-戊二醇,2-乙基-1,3-己二醇,2,2-二乙基-1,3-丙二醇,1,3-己二醇,1,4-二(羟基乙氧基)-苯,2,2-双-(4-羟基环己基)-丙烷,2,4-二羟基-1,1,3,3-四甲基-环丁烷,2,2-双-(3-羟基乙氧基苯基)-丙烷,2,2-双-(4-羟基丙氧基苯基)-丙烷,和它们的混合物等等。可以由上述二醇中的两种或多种来制备聚酯。
本发明优选的聚酯为聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯(“PET”),聚萘二甲酸乙二醇酯(“PEN”),聚间苯二甲酸乙二醇酯(“PIT”),和聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇-丁二醇酯,PET是最优选的,最优选聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯(“PET”)。
聚酯也可以含有少量的三官能度或四官能度共聚单体,如1,2,4-苯三酸酐,三羟甲基丙烷,苯均四酸二酐,季戊四醇和其它在本领域内公知可形成聚酯的多元酸或多元醇。
还有,虽然没有要求,但常用于聚酯中的其它添加剂也可以加入到所述聚酯中。这样的添加剂包括但不限于着色剂,有机调色剂,颜料,碳黑,玻璃纤维,填料,抗冲改性剂,抗氧化剂,稳定剂,阻燃剂,再加热助剂,乙醛还原性化合物,氧清除剂,防渗透增强助剂等等。
本发明将通过以下优选实施方案的实施例得到进一步说明,但是应该理解的是包含这些实施例仅是为了说明的目的而并非意在限制本发明的范围,除非另有说明。
实施例1-51
将防粘连剂Ba2SO4,滑石和SiO2在0.0125-0.10wt%的浓度下以20纳米-7微米的颗粒尺寸加入到PET CB-12中(CB-12是对苯二甲酸,间苯二甲酸和乙二醇的共聚物,可从Eastman Chemical Company以ESTAPAKCSC Resin的商品名商购)。将未干燥的防粘连剂加入到所述PET中,掺入的形式是以下两种方法制得的浓缩料:(1)在双螺杆挤出机中熔融共混成1.0wt%的浓缩料(“SC/MB”)和(2)在PET制备中就地制成1.0wt%的浓缩料(“MBC/MB”)。这两种方法以PET瓶的形式,通过在一台八模腔的Husky注塑机上注塑粒料/粒料共混物制成2升预制品来评估。得到的预制品在一台SIDEL 2/3拉伸吹塑机上拉伸吹塑成2升的瓶。分析这些瓶的浊度水平(用ASTM D-1003测定侧壁浊度)并将两个瓶相互垂直并接触地放置,转动一个瓶并测量转动第二个瓶所需的扭矩来分析其摩擦系数。用式μ=(Torque/R)/F2来计算摩擦系数,其中Torque是扭矩感应装置的读数,R是瓶的半径,F2是实际载荷或在接触点上瓶所承受的力。结果示于表1,2和3以及图1-8。图1-图6的曲线对比了样品的浊度,COF,浓度和颗粒尺寸。参考这些表格与附图,数据的对比表明根据本发明制造的聚酯和聚酯容器具有降低的摩擦系数和可接受的透明度。
图7显示对于给定浓度的防粘连剂,得到的COF非常相似。瓶侧壁浊度的对比示于图8中。结果显示采用滑石制得的容器与采用SiO2和BaSO4制得的容器相比,透明度稍高。

实施例52-63

Claims (46)
1.由含有聚酯和滑石的组合物制成的瓶,所述瓶具有小于4%的浊度值,并具有0.01-1.0的摩擦系数,其中所述的滑石是含20-300ppm水的干燥滑石或是经脂肪酸束缚的滑石。
2.权利要求1的瓶,其中所述干燥滑石的量介于0.01-0.02重量%范围。
3.权利要求1的瓶,其中组合物含有0.005-0.025wt%平均颗粒尺寸为0.2-10微米的滑石。
4.权利要求1的瓶,组合物含有0.0125-0.025wt%平均颗粒尺寸为20纳米-7微米的滑石。
5.权利要求1的瓶,其浊度值为0.1-3%。
6.权利要求1的瓶,其摩擦系数为0.1-1.0。
7.权利要求1的瓶,其中所述的滑石在加入聚酯前被干燥,以使其含有20-300ppm的水。
8.权利要求1的瓶,其中所述的滑石经脂肪酸处理过。
