Abstract

El presente invento se refiere a una nueva clase de compuestos que tienen estructuras que se refieren a determinadas chalconas sintéticas y de origen natural, así como a métodos de preparación de tales compuestos y a sus utilizaciones farmacéuticas. El compuesto 1, 3-difenil-2-propen-1-ona es conocido con el nombre común de chalcona. Muchos avonoides de origen natural comparten características estructurales con la chalcona y se les conoce con el término genérico de chalconas. Asimismo, se ha demostrado que determinados avonoides, incluyendo los que también se clasifican como chalconas, tienen actividad anti-cáncer y actividad quimiopreventiva en determinados tumores.
