Abstract

Las invención se refiere a un derivado del 20-aralquil-5a-pregnan que tiene la fórmula general (I), o a una sal farmacológicamente aceptable del mismo, en donde R{sub, 1} es (H, OR), (H, OSO{sub, 3}H) o NOR; R es H, alquilo C{sub,1-6} o acilo C{sub,1-6}; cada R{sub, 2} y R{sub, 3} es independientemente hidrógeno o alquilo C{sub,1-6}; X es un radical hidrocarburo divalente de cadena recta C{sub,1-8}, que comprende opcionalmente un enlace doble o triple; o X es -(CH{sub,2}){sub,m}-CR{sub,7}R{sub,8}-; m = 0-4; al menos una de R{sub,7} y R{sub,8} es alquilo C{sub,1-4} hidróxido, alcóxido C{sub,1-4} o halógeno; el otro, si estuviera presente, es hidrógeno; o R{sub,7} y R{sub,8} representan juntos O o NOR''; R'' es H, alquilo C{sub,1-6} o acilo C{sub,1-6}; cada R{sub,4}, R{sub,5} y R{sub,6} son independientemente hidrógeno, hidróxido, alcóxido C{sub,1-4}, halógeno, NR{sub,9}R{sub,10} o alquilo C{sub,1-4}, opcionalmente sustituido por hidróxido, alcóxido, halógeno u oxo; cada R{sub,9} y R{sub,10} es independientemente hidrógeno o alquilo C{sub,1-4} y las líneas punteadas indican un enlace doble "DELTA" 7 o "DELTA" 8 o bien un par de enlaces dobles conjugados seleccionados entre "DELTA" 7,14, "DELTA" 8,14, "DELTA" 6,8(14). Los compuestos de la invención tienen actividad activadora de la meiosis y pueden utilizarse para el control de la fertilidad.
