Abstract

This utility model disclosed an improved plastic pipe coupling which comprises a stepped tubular body member and a coupling nut member. The stepped tubular body member has its smaller and bigger end portions provided with external threads and the intermediate portion provided with parallel holding ribs. The tubular body member has stepped axial bores, the intermediate and inner bores defining therein respective shoulders, the intermediate bore being dimensioned to snugly fit therein a pipe to be coupled. A rubber O-ring gasket and a sleeve pusher are provided in the inner bore and adapted to be in telescopic relation with the pipe to be connected. The coupling nut member is provided with internal threads adapted to be screwed on the tubular body member and a conical inner surface adjacent the inner threads thereof. A conical pipe grip insert complemental in shape with the conical inner surface has a cut-out portion to provide contraction when pressed along the conical inner surface. The pipe grip insert has gripping ribs provided on the inner surface thereof whereby a firm grip on the pipe is effected when the grip insert is pushed by the sleeve pusher along the conical inner surface.
